Well I think this is in the case of friends.  I know girls who truly think their friends are pretty, when most boys find them very ugly.

If it's not their friends, then yeah... I guess they do that.

Everyone has their own perception but I guess other females feel a need to boost the image of ugly girls. Probably to make themselves seem even more attractive.
