After Bassir replied to one of my posts I decided to ask my neighbor if I could try out her Mac.

Amazing. It runs perfectly. Absolutely no errors. I love the programs it has.

It's so beautiful that I now know why nobody has developed a MacBlinds yet.

My god, if this computer dies then I'm getting one. And maybe Vista just for my games.

They're not that expensive.

Are you acting like there's no relation between quality and price? It's worth every cent.

Apples to Oranges.

How about comparing Alienware computers to PCs you can build from NewEgg or Geeks.com and comparing an Apple computer to an off the shelves barebones, Mac OS X86 ready PC?

As far as I know the only thing that is different from Apple t PC is the Operating system and the cost; sure there are little tweaks in the hardware Apple has so that they don't get people running Mac OS X off a PC

Right?  psyduck;

CruelPleasure

Yeah, I agree my friend has one and they are amazing.

OS, firmware, drivers, APIs... there's something to be said for design, especially in the area of portables and All-In-Ones, and cost.

In the area of cost, if you ramp up a Mac Pro with a spec-for-spec machine from Dell for workstation work and BTO straight from Dell, it's going to be about a grand cheaper.

It really comes down to what you'd want one for. Basic web surfing and office suite stuff, occasional Bittorrent for content? Sure, PC. Creating poop? Mac.

But hey, if someone wants to go the best of both worlds you can theoretically homebrew a Hackintosh:
