I prefer horizontal. Vertical shooters seem to just focus on dozens of enemies and hundreds of bullets, but horizontal shooters usually have a more reasonable amount of things going on and a pretty large focus on level design; verticals seem to only have pretty backgrounds and few even have interactive levels.

fpses like tf2 are okay but i hate most of them

I like horizontal, too. Vertical just seems awkward. It really depends on the game, though.

I like Galaga, but Lightening Force and the Gradius games are much butter.

Life Force has both vertical and horizontal so that's kind of ljgasdgs :'(
