its a multibillion dollar industry. thousands who work on tobacco fields and work in tobacco factories would lose jobs. convenient stores would lose a big chunk of their profit also, so they would probably raise prices or lay off workers also.

it is a right to smoke, so outlawing smoking completely would be taking away a right. it is also a right to NOT smoke if you dont want to though, though. so i do think that it should be illegal smoke in a way so that it affects people who dont want to breathe in the smoke. but it should be legal in designated areas.

If smoking is a right and the person has the right to blow it in my face as I walk past them, it's also my right to harm them in whatever manner I choose. If I wish to snap his legs and make him eat his own fingers, it's perfectly fine because it's my choice.

If a person is doing it alone in their own home with no children, family, etc, then I don't give a damn. The problem is it wouldn't be possible to monitor this without installing cameras in every room of every building, which I do have a problem with. The easiest way is to simply outlaw it.

Sure, people will find a way to smoke something somewhere, but it's easier to enforce laws against smoking than it is to enforce laws against consumption of alcohol.

I couldn't help but laugh when I read this thread. I mean, come on....
OK, first off, yes, smoking is a gross habit. You smell, look pretty stupid and end up shelling a load of cash a week to support it.  But, generalizing everyone who smokes and calling them complete idiots is so completely foolish and unwarrented. It's their choice, as bad of one as it is.  
  I have several friends who smoke. When we're at a party or a gathering, they leave the house and puff outside, away from the non-smokers.
   Judging by how the first post was worded, I take your friends are thirteen, twelve?  Look, the worst that's going to happen is they're going to go off to their little secret area, go off in a huddle and try blowing smoke at each other for a few minutes. They'll end up with smelly clothes and a small headache for a while and a story for school on monday.
   Snithching? Honestly? I could maybe  understand if they were trying out crack pipes or crystal meth, but smoking cigarettes?  I hope you were kidding.
