in conclusion, you're not going to strike it rich just because you found a new strategy and you're possibly a tad overconfident

Wrong.

QuoteUston was a card counting of great skill and invented a Blackjack card counting technique called Team Play. This involved players being sent to many different blackjack tables at once and working out where the best table is. Once this happens they all converge to this table. This method netted Ustonââ,¬â,,¢s consortium around three million dollars which was the most successful Blackjack card counting operation to date in the history of card counting.

I Am Right

QuoteDuring the 1990's a group of scientists from the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) managed to cause great embarrassment to casinos in Las Vegas, this group, known as the MIT blackjack team, managed to scoop millions of dollars in few years. Though the exact figure is not known to the public, experts from the casinos industry tell that the MIT Team made more than $4,000,000.

I'm Right Again.

Wrong.

jeremiah was a bullfrogging

Anyways, did you not bother to comprehend what I said?  I'm well aware that card counting can be successful, but some kid who hardly even knows what it is and who also intends to win money from his friends has a far greater likelihood of becoming one of the countless Vegas tourists who brings a book on card counting with him and who leaves with lighter pockets rather than one of the huge success stories.
Even if we do have a card counting prodigy on our hands, Mr. Rightypants, the two quotes you provided both referred to teams.  Not individuals.

whuh

What I mean is that casinos that are owned privately, like the ones in Las Vegas or all the tribe-owned ones in the Midwest, are allowed to make house rules against card counting. They are allowed to impress those rules upon their customers solely because they own the casinos privately.

I sort of meant like they can pretend it's illegal because in their house THEY ARE THE LAW

Team or not an individual can get rich if he is a really good card counter, worse case scenario you make less money than when on a team, but you still make money.

If you are sufficiently lucky and actually become decent at card counting, possibly.  I would doubt that there have been many individual card counters that have won large amounts in the last few decades.  It's not that hard to spot a bad card counter.
Regardless, one of the key advantages of card counting comes from the dealer having to abide by house rules.  I doubt that would be the situation when he plays with his friends.
