How do ceiling fans cool off a room?

Aren't they sucking up the hot air at the top of a room and blowing it down on you, wouldn't that make it hotter? doodthing; edumacate;

They don't cool down a room. They push the air around.

Open a window or turn on the AC if you want the overall temperature to change.
