I've truthfully never put a CD in this Mac that wasn't a game... and that was once, under Windows.

But lots of other people do, especially now that DVD support is so common.

Also, I don't really like the idea of the Air in general...but I guess I appreciate the slight movement it's making toward SSDs becoming more popular.

And lots of people rip their CDs and movies, or just pirate it all.

Since the Air isn't really designed for people new to computers and instead just an ultra portable mostly made for interaction with a desktop or carrying around whatever you'd normally do on your desktop wherever you go, the use of an optical drive is pretty much null. Rip what you need at home, copy it, and go.

I guess, but I wish they had designed it so that people new to computers can make better use of it.

I'd never buy one.

It's not a great idea to use CDs on the go.  If you're at home you can use the external CD drive to use them if you need them.

Macbook Air -- Meh. Has it's use, but I wouldn't buy it. Even if it doesn't have an optical drive, it certainly has space for another USB port.

Time Capsule -- Pretty nice, assuming you can partition the drive for Time Machine and simple storage over network.

AppleTV Revamp -- Nice, but it needs DVR functionality. Next revision will probably have it since the FCC has said

DirecTV/Comcast/Dish Network/ect have to allow third party boxes.

iPod Touch Update -- Boring. Show me a 32GB version and we'll talk. Creative and Sandisk both have 32GB Flash players out, there's no reason Apple can't. And $20 for a firmware update is utter bullshit.

But a Macbook will never truly need four gigs of RAM. There's a point when adding more just won't do anything, unless of course you upgrade your other hardware like your CPU.

And it was entirely relevant, since a person using a Macbook Air will never really have a use for two full gigabytes of RAM unless they're gaming, in which case the Macbook Pro does a far greater job at only $200 more.
