In this thread, Lawlz tells me why Safari is superior to Firefox in OS X.

Daddy

You need to wait in line.

Guff has been waiting for a list of sites, other than the Acid2 test, that Firefox can't render properly since August.

firefox is the slowest goddamn browser on os x, running even slower than internet explorer can under emulation

advantages of firefox: hay i have this spell check plugin and open source which really means jack shit to the average user but i always cite it as an advantage because source code is fun to peruse what the hell is int and float :|

cool i have built in features without the bloat and have a spellchecker and top performance and webkit :|

Spell check is a default feature of Firefox. psyduck;

I had to enable it on Safari.

Firefox takes maybe 5-10 more seconds to open than Safari, but actual browsing is so much faster. And there's no reason to quit Fire fox since it doesn't hog resources after it's been open a while *cough*Safari*cough*, so the startup time makes no difference.

Also, FTP plugin so I can upload in a browser tab makes me swoon.

Also, also, where is this "bloat"?

ONLY

Safari takes about 2 seconds.

oh god please tell me you're kidding or can't read a clock

Firefox takes anywhere from five seconds more to load basic, nigh image free pages to thrice as long as Safari. As I've said, even IE when run under emulation is faster.

THAT'S A JOKE. spam;

isn't firefox notorious for its memory leaks and all that bologna

i mean safari is no lynx but firefox is hell psyduck;

Also, Safari really doesn't hog up resources. Shiira was a bitch when left running for a while, but Safari has been very good for me. Apparently, it does a bit for other people, but not as bad as Firefox.

okay

i use cyberduck. it's free and nice and good and cool when linked to text editors like smultron

even better when you take advantage of spaces and flip between an area for maintaining whatever you're doing and putting it together and another to see how your work is turning out

XBOX HUEG app size. Really, it's bigger than Opera and Safari combined... and the basic, no plug-in version doesn't even have half of Opera's features. Hell, it doesn't have half of Opera's speed, either.

also all those neat little memory leaks and whatnot that it's been plagued with for all eternity because mozilla has some retarded developers especially their mac department

Dear Lawlz: One of the benefits of an open source app is the ability to quickly fix a problem.  Firefox's memory leak has pretty much been dealt with, while I still have the problem with safari.

As I said before, unless the two systems had the same exact specs, you can't compare the speeds of programs.

guff

Daphnia

Firefox loads pages faster for me

And 10 seconds less for startup per month is not a good enough reason to switch.

I don't see how spaces is a help (and I forgot what that has to do with this topic). Switching to text editor with command tab and switching tabs in browser is quicker than spaces swtiching.

And I don't remember anyone who's cared about app size since last millenium. But I asked for bloat, so I guess I'll agree wit hyou there, but I was thinking about GUI/interface bloat, which I do not see on either (or on any browser other than IE, for that matter).

hi guff why am i here i forgot : |

acid 2
As guff requested before, give a list of sites other than acid2 that firefox can't render

also safari can't display the graphical editor on lithium forums, and it crashes when I use imageshack.

shut up you retard it just fucking sucks you don't need facts to prove that :|

Title27GT

I use Safari because I'm a god damn Nazi for hard drive space befuddlement

But Lawlz needs to shut the fuck up. Compiling your own Mozilla products can make a huge difference, and god knows how bad flash performance is on webkit.

why do you insult yourself at every opportunity

I would bet you about 20 percent or less Americans know what the hell Linux is, never mind used it. I would bet you that about 90 to 100 percent of Americans are familiar with and have tried "osx".

Firefox is made for OS X. Mozilla heavily supports OS X. Stop being an idiot.
