Printer ink

I know barely anything about printers... edumacate;

I have some dell printer (It's Inkjet 720 or whatever). Do ink cartridges follow some standard or is Dell's website my only way to get ink for it? Dell charges about $30 USD per cart (exception being bundles, like how buying four at a time gives a $9 discount) and I'm pretty sure it's probably cheaper elsewhere.

I know I have a crappy printer; I only have it because Dell bundled it for free with our almost-as-crappy computer. caterpie;
