But I have no instruments nor do I even know a fellow human. How do I get myself out of this dilemma? befuddlement

Daddy

WHY DO YOU KEEP MAKING TITLES IN CAPS?  IT DOESN'T MAKE YOUR THREAD MORE IMPORTANT.

Samus Aran

Get an instrument or learn it, or learn to sing. psyduck;

Himu

I can play the guitar sort of. caterpie;

Why a sudden interest in bands?

Because when I think, I scream in my head.

Jesus, dickleshit, turn your caps lock off, goddamn. befuddlement

Hmm, you're late. Most people have this desire in 8th grade and make pitiful "bands" with a guitar player who started a couple months ago and "keyboards". poppy;

Some people actually make cool bands, though, because they have musical talent. Like me. psyduck;

To answer your question, it's a bad idea unless you have intimate knowledge of some instrument.

some people can start a band from nothing but gather some little cult following befuddlement

You could argue that Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band completely and utterly suck at everything, and other like Houdini will dare say the man's a god and helped change a bunch of shit or whatever.

I just wish I had a SAXOPHONE :'(

I'd love to learn how to play the guitar, but then what? It's not like I'll start a band or be in one, so it's just like a hobby that will get me nowhere.

If you're looking to learn an instrument and have a band, don't count on sax to do it for you in less than 2-3 years. You're just not going to pick it up and be able to play it well. That's what guitar and bass are for.  china;

You must have a pretty low standard for what's considered "playing well." psyduck;

"Well" doesn't mean playing like Omar Rodriguez or some such guitar god. I've been playing bass for less than a year, and of course I can't do fancy slap-bass stuff or even complicated basslines, but for most bands my skill would get the job done. It's not rocket science.

And practically anyone can pick up a guitar and play power chords with a bit of guidance; doing fluid solos just take s a bit of practice and musical theory work. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's definitely a lot easier than any other instrument to play at a mediocre level.

Okay, thank you for clarifying.

At least it's harder than the recorder though. caterpie;
