Vintersorg is like my new favorite band, jesus they kick ass. They took what Borknagar had (Vintersorg and Borknagar have some similar members and are bands that are growing side by side but I'm just talking about what I hear, not the history or time of the band) and threw in kick ass bass grooves in a few songs and wrote some songs only in Swedish (I assume it is, maybe Finish) lyrics and then on top of that added some sweet ass synth. Check them out if you like Opeth, Mirrorthrone, or Borknagar. God damn they kick so much fucking ass I can't even type it all in this little box

E.S.P. Mirage is the song that has an awesome bass line in it, listen to it!

And if you haven't heard of Borknagar this is one of my favorite songs from them, try it out too

Oh god yet another band I need to check out.

Porcupine Tree has an assload of songs with some funky bass lines going on, my favorites are the ones in Halo, Slave Called Shiver and The Creator Has A Mastertape.
I could never get into Porcupine Tree, I listened to Tenhi with my brother a lot instead. It's like Damnation but a little more depressing and with some violins as I recall.

Vintersorg I like better than Borknagar right now, it might be me just saying that because I have listened to Borknagar so much. Hell I've taken them out of my CD played about 2 times in the past 6 months,

Samus Aran

Under Pressure has the best bass line ever, you fucker.

what the fuck you know absolutely nothing about instruments

Also fine, "Dazed and Confused" then, for your oh-so-necessary sliding.

Edit: Nevermind, I thought it was done via sliding but I guess I was just imagining how I would play it instead of the real way.

Oh yeah and Primus style stuff. I just mean stuff you can do the turtle thing with your neck and head with when you hear it.

Not so much Under Pressure

Lol sorry I was listening to that song and got caught up in the sound of the bass, just an opinion and really the same thing as saying "cool bass line" anyways please erase that from your memory.

Primus.
I had mentioned them before but another mention probably is a good idea

LINK2K9

The Stone Roses, at least on their first album, had some pretty kick ass bass lines.

Fools Gold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4bHMVAKDao&feature=related

The Smiths had some as well.

This Charming Man: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGnjrTkv1gs

Not necessarily "grooving", but a damn fine walking bass line for the chorus.
