It added some Realtek HD Audio or something, and that may be a problem. Maybe it thinks "high definition sound (lolwut)" involves echoes and lasers. Booting up Crysis was like playing in a cave. Bioshock didn't have sound problems as severe as the rest of the system, but it seems Windows likes to be incredibly loud.  It I turn it down just a tad, it sounds like someone barfing incessantly... and it's still loud enough to hurt my ears.

I use a Realtek AC '97, and it works wonderfully, even in OS X.   navi;

And you're dead to me for hating Crysis.

Seriously, it's not hard to open up the realtek soundmanager. Haven't they started with SoundMax manager's in new computers, though? Seriously, it's fucking easy, with environment settings and fun digital switches and shit.
