I'm on one of my school Macs (G5 or whatever, super-special-awesome), and I can't get Java to work. I installed it, updated it, enabled plugins, etc. It just won't work on Safari, and my teacher won't let me download Firefox.

I wish I could help, but I can't. I'm on an ooooold Mac from like, 2001.

I'm so happy I inserted a DVD when it was booting up. flower; Crashed it and it's old shitty ass hard-drive. Got the Hard-Drive of a 2006 installed in, and got a WiFi chip/card thing. caterpie;
You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is Necro

Disk Utility > Repair > Fix Permissions

Then try, if not, try the reinstall after permissions fixed.

If you're trying to play a PoS like Runescape and have a blank screen, click somewhere in the screen and drag down an inch or two and release.

Schools don't allow you to do it.

And why the hell would you want Firefox on a Mac? It's the worst browser next to IE. If you have to, go with Shiira or Camino (Shiira is obviously my favorite).

My school has some Macs, but they're from 1999 or something. They suck ass.

No, these computers have no limitations, except for a password to install new stuff. I already know the password, so that's out of the way. They're 2GHz Dual-core Intel processors, fully loaded, 2GB RAM, 200GB hard drive...they're literally the most powerful computers in the district.

If it requires a password for installation, there are definitely more limitations slapped on than you think.

Hell, I've noticed some tools in Fireworks on our school Macs are locked. Why? no idea.

If you know the password, just slap on Shiira. No big deal.

Only limitation is password. I asked my teacher. She's pretty much the only person in charge of those beasts, and she doesn't believe in censorship. woop;
