Now run them both on the same operating system and compare.

You've still failed to explain why it sucks other than the fact that it can't pass the acid 2 test, which should be changing next month when milestone 8 is launched.   

Were you running both OS 9 and OS X on the same machine?   Both OS 9 and IE 5 are older and thus work better on machines with less RAM than the new OS and browser.   Now if both have the same amount of RAM the older system will run faster, it has all of that extra RAM to use.

You can't make a comparison of 2 programs unless everything is the same: specs, OS, temperature of the machine, and such.

EMULATION

Wow, since the Wii has lower specs than my Mac, games for it must run gloriously under emulation on my Mac. It's a proven fact, folks.

Running IE5 on a machine running solely OS9 will be run at full speed. Running it on my Mac, under emulation through OS X, only runs at about 70% of that speed or less. Firefox, running natively on OS X,  runs slower than GCF in gym class.
