Yeah. There was this guy called St. Nicholas who threw money into poor people's socks or something. He was the inspiration for Santa.

well, if he existed then why do we not believe he existed. He started the trend of gift giving, I think that something to at least celebrate rite? powerofone;

It's been proven that he most likely did exist, actually.  We still have his remains somewhere.
