Now, I had Office 2007 installed on Windows and I have quite a few documents saved in Microsoft's new file extension for documents, .docx. Now that I'm running Ubuntu I tried penning the .docx in Open Office, but no luck. Looks like the geniuses at Microsoft decided to create a new format for their new Office 2007 documents that can't be opened in anything but Office 2007.

It's like Microsoft wants you to fucking buy Office 2007 so you may view documents. psyduck;

Good thing someone created a package that allows Open Office users to open .docx files. God bless them.

Genius

I knew right away that saving anything in .docx would be a horrible mistake, so I didn't do it at all.  I just used .doc, it's worked all this time, why stop now?

The first line in the quote was what Microsoft made it like. The second was somewhat of an update. But I'll fix it anyway.

But the pretty pictures with the styles and the smart art thingies just made it so irresistible. caterpie;
