Just about every person I know has a PC that they've had for at least 2 years, and I can't think of a single person who's had trouble with them. And when I say PC, I mean a $400 - $500 PC.

The average person doesn't want to spend over $1000 on a computer, so they'll most likely get a PC. In that sense, yes, Macs are much more expensive.
If you're some sort of internet dweller obsessed with trying to warp your mind around the idea that you're better than people that you don't even know, you'll probably go with a Mac.

i had a pc before my mac, actually everyone in my family has pc's except me (we are in the process of buying a mac family computer though) and my old pc laptop broke after a little more then a year. (it was a $1200 pc)
something was wrong with the harddrive or some shit like that and the screen was all messed up.
and yeah, macs are hella expensive. but they're really nice and i honestly would never go back to a pc, i'm kinda hooked on macs now.

and i had to pay for much more then half of mine, after saving up from birthdays, christmas, etc.
