no, this isn't just another generic 'favorite vidya music' thread

for example:

maridia is the single greatest piece of music in the entire metroid franchise, in my most humble of opinions

now, bear in mind, i've only played three metroid games (super/zero mission/prime 1), and only 2 to completion (-prime 1), so my metroid discography is far from complete lol, and there may be even better metroid themes i haven't yet heard out there

but maridia is my favorite thus far because it does such an extraordinarily good job at setting a most appropriate and complex mood/tone for the region of maridia

i do wish it were longer, but the fact that it manages to tell the story it does in 1min 29s actually makes it even more impressive lol

i haven't reexamined mario's discography thoroughly enough to know whether it's really the single greatest piece of music in the series, but it's certainly up there

Chrono Cross has one of the best OST's in all of gaming, but I believe this track to be the best out of the 2 Chrono games
