i think the game is alright as a whole, but nobody actually takes sonic fandom seriously

i liked amnesia: the dark descent overall but it wasn't really as scary as everyone made it out to be

how can you hate on starcraft and love civ?
like i get it they're different games but you'd expect that you'd have at least a little appreciation over how amazing of an RTS starcraft is

but you also don't like hard games as you said in the other thread so maybe that's it

because it's crazy different in gameplay, I don't dig its space theme, and I find the genre wholly unsatisfying. Meanwhile with Civ I'm creating history which I find awesome. Age of Empires would be similar but unfortunately I don't have fun playing its RTS style

yeah the sonic and shadow levels are alright (made more standable by RUNNING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND), but everything else about that game is garbage, thank u nostalgia

Tomb Raider reboot

I haven't played Rise yet, but the first one was just a shitty uncharted. the story sucked dick. lara's characterization sucked dick. the shooting sections were just bad. raiding tombs was mostly optional. i thought it was a 6/10 at best but everyone claimed it was JUST THE REFRESHMENT THE SERIES NEEDED 

whereas i liked the reboot precisely because it's a decent uncharted clone with slightly greater weapon variety and an upgrade system lol

no denying that the writing isn't remotely as high quality as uncharted's is (well, except maybe 3's )

the story was campy, the supernatural elements felt out of place (which is funny because it's supposed to be tomb raider), every single character is a forgettable nobody except muh sam, and it definitely is a shame that """tombs""" were nothing more than skippable two-minute puzzles

but i think it's an adequately satisfying gameplay experience if you're an uncharted fan

but for tomb raider fans, i can definitely see why there would be massive disappointment with the route the reboot and rise of the tomb raider have taken, they're barely tomb raiders at all

speaking of which, as for overrated games: the original tomb raider

call me a casual, but i simply cannot fathom how a game with such infuriatingly antagonistic controls could ever possibly have been considered fun by anyone

every single stunt is a frustrating and very often lethal struggle with an excessively convoluted control scheme in the original tomb raider, a ruthless exercise in anger management with absolutely no concern for the player's finite patience

i'm sure that's a part of it but i've played plenty of other 3d games from that era and tomb raider is by far the least intuitive

no, but considering how much the fps genre has evolved since the days of the dreaded n64 controller, it's probably for the best that i haven't
