Jun Takeuchi, the director of Resident Evil 5 has confirmed what many have suspected all along; the main character of the newest RE installment is indeed Chris Redfield. Chris was the main male character in the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Chris, since we last saw him in RE:CV, has apparently resigned from the Special Tactics and Rescue Service had has taken a job with a group called BSAA who has dispatched him to investigate a potential biohazard in an African village.
Takeuchi also confirms that the enemies are not Ganados from RE4, however neither are they zombies.
Also, a female character will appear in the game that he says RE fans will recognize. This girl will appear in the full trailer that will be released on the 26th of July.
