Post by: Kalahari Inkantation on June 20, 2018, 06:35:03 AM
is simply the best-named element on the entire periodic table

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessine

it just rolls off the tongue so smoothly

What's your favorite element name, Boyah? bassir;

Molybdenum, for the opposite reason. It's like someone stuck a stop sign in the middle of that word.

molybdenum is nostalgic to me because i remember at one point having to write a poem about it in hs chemistry class lol

we were all assigned a different element, and that's the one i ended up with

oh god, i wonder if i can still find it

Molybdenum

Though to be lead
By the ancient Greeks
Until Carl Scheele
Found that it was unique

With a sample of molybdenite
And some hydrogen nitrate
Carl Wilhelm Scheele determined
That this substance was new,
And his findings were great

He called it molybdenum
After the mineral molybdenite
And today we are quite grateful
That Scheele disclosed the Greek oversight

For molybdenum is a useful metal
In various industries
It helps to make strong steel alloys
For use in factories

Its high melting point and density
Are just a few of its properties
It's also silver and malleable
And can be shaped with relative ease

Molybdenum is essential
For plant life to be sustained
It keeps foliage healthy
Including vegetables, fruits and grains
