I'm also willing to take games off so go ahead.

Megaman X is fantastic. IDK about that Crash game, I played the others though.

crash warped is the peak of crash games.

also, i dont know exactly why, but I love Dragon's Dogma.
it's not "flawless" by any stretch, but it's really great I think

Uncharted 2

That's probably about it. I played it start to finish in one sitting which I've never done with any other game. It was too good to put down.

Oh yeah and Prince of Persia was pretty bloody awesome but the checkpoints kind of sucked. You could get stuck with incredibly low health before a boss and the only way to unlock the old sands of time game was located midway through the game and if you passed it you couldn't go back for it

I'd say SSB 64 has a lotttttttt of issues even though it's still very fun.

Also surprised so many people loved MKDS considering the awfulness of snaking. Not that it was hard, but the bloody carpal tunnel...

Looking through a competitive lens, I think that SSB64 is great just for how crazy the combos are
there is some dumb stuff like shield stun, though
like if you shield, kirby can break your shield from u-tilts wtf lol

still such a fun game though. just personal god tier

agreed on the combos. They are fun because there's such hit stun you can practically pull off infinites. Especially with quick characters like kirby or pikachu. But that's also frustrating when it happens to you girl; pikachu can pretty much just use throws and you can never respond because he can literally start his grab after another character and his will land first

i hope this is excluding gta o myface;

and even then the singleplayer game had its fair share of flaws imo

i don't like the omnipresence and relentlessness of the police, i shouldn't be spending ten minutes running around the map to escape two stars

and i seriously dislike how vehicular damage works, it should not be as difficult as it is to damage a car to the point of explosion in any gta game

and i thought the ending and latter half of the story in general were kind of pitifully underwhelming lol, i honestly think even gta iv might have ultimately had a more likeable cast (excluding trevor) and a more compelling story (too bad almost everything else about gta iv falls short)

Quote from: y-i on November 12, 2014, 09:09:17 PM

and i would so agree with this if it weren't for snaking ruining online

that's pretty much the only stain on mkds's reputation :'(

super metroid turned out to be one of my favorite games of all time

but disagree'd

the completely arbitrary distribution of items in metroid games interferes with their otherwise perfect pacing imo

"backtracking" is exciting and fun when it involves using new abilities to get to previously inaccessible areas

in prime the enemies are harder to kill and the environments are harder to maneuver around in so it feels mostly like just trying to get through old rooms rather than hurrying to explore new ones

idk

Title: Re: God tier games
Post by: Mando Pandango on November 15, 2014, 02:01:50 AM
The artifact bullshit in Prime is just really poorly done backtracking. I have much less of a problem with the Dark World in Prime 2 (which I think is most people's gripe with that one), and in some parts I think the mechanic works well. Though to be fair, it's been a while since I've played it so who knows what I would think now. 3 suffers from standard third-in-a-trilogy-itis.

So the Metroid Prime trilogy, is seriously great, but even as individual games, they're hardly perfect.
Title: Re: God tier games
Post by: TooB on November 15, 2014, 11:08:58 AM
Honestly, to me, the metroid game I really loved was Zero Misson.
It took Metroid, a game that really is not all that great anymore, and fused it with Super/Fusion (lol) mechanics, making it one beast of a game. If I had to pick a favorite Metroid game, it might be that.

or super.... they're like super close

Shotgun Ice for the dog, Electric Spark for lightsaber-wielding Sigma, Rolling Shield for final Sigma

though you'll run out of Rolling Shield before you can kill him, it gives you a very good head start. just be careful with the timing.

his hitbox is a little bit bullshit but it's not that hard after practice
