discuss the best zelda game itt
remember how stone temple had two minibosses and both of them were awesome
too bad the bat dude kinda slows down the game though
It's my favorite game.
all of ikana canyon really is one of the more memorable parts of a zelda game
I need to play every zelda again!
i finally got a copy and i finally got past The first 3 days

I've always remembered that part more than the others. That whole part of the world has this... sad feeling to it. I like it.
played it for like 3 hours then my game froze gave up on it.
I just started playing this again last night. O_0
which Zelda game had the monkeys and vine maze outside one of the dungeons or castles? Was it A Link to the Past? doodhuh;

Yes, A Link to the Past. The vine maze where you meet Ukiki and you have to pay him to open the dungeon for you (first Dark World dungeon).
Ukiki is also in Link's Awakening, where you have to give him a banana bunch and then he'll repair a bridge for you.
it's p. damn amazing
i've never finished it because i'm a faggot though

yeah but that game is a hundred times worse than majora's mask

Im prepared for the annoying hate im about to get, but majora is my least favorite zelda game.
notice however, that i didnt say it was bad. just my least favorite.

well if that's true, there are definitely zeldas that are objectively much worse tham mm is myface;
its all opinion.
ive played them all, yes, but mm is just my least favorite. i could give many reasons, but nobody would listen anyway...
only 4 real dungeons, the repeating 3 days (which equals annoying time management), the characters seem lamer,
i do like the emphasis on side quests tho, somewhat, most of the masks are useless except for their one use somewhere, among other reasons.
Most people say Zelda 2 is the worst, but i disagree...
i think spirit tracks qualifies as the worst to me, but mm is still my least fave. it doesnt make it the worst to me, tho, if that makes any sense...

well, i think they did in wind waker too, but in majora it's more noticeable because it's also all the npcs who got the excellent writing treatment
but yeah the writing in general is the best in majora imo. and it really shines in the ikana area, i think. all the things that the garo tell you, the ikana king and his speech, and omg the giant stalchild who you have to chase and ahhh the little girl and her scientist dad oh god
i think majora and wind waker are really the only two games in the series with written dialogue that actually has good depth to it

I thought skyward sword had pretty good characters too, but it was only one town of them so it wasn't that hard to do
but yeah i think wind waker had the best characters and majora's mask had a lot of good ones too

1st u dont like the game. declare that you dont........ then u desire the game.
i can never decide between it and wind waker as the best zelda game
ALttP is still my favorite though because i have sat down and beat that game in one sitting at least 2 or 3 times now <3
my favorite thing about majora's mask is how much it still surprises me every time i play it. like getting the stone mask before you go into the pirate's fortress and just running around all nimbly bimbly and no one gives a shit because they can't see you
i nearly always get the stone mask before going there lol

the first one was mildly interesting but not overall fun
snowpeak had it's really fun moments but all the fun goes out the window for how many times you have to climb through it
great bay was awful :(
stone tower temple best dungeon ever but stone tower ugh
"but stone tower ugh" i can see because it really is pretty damn confusing lol

The best water temple? I had a lot of fun in Skywar Sword's temple, and I liked AlttP's water temple too.
But the design for OOT's was very good.
I remember having fun in snowpeaks temple boss.
i believe it was goht? or something like that?
I loved just rolling around the arena....
but the underwater boss i hated.... but mostly because i dont really like underwater parts, and
when there's something down there ready to kill you, itss just worse
gyorg is one of the easiest bosses in zelda history lol
shoot it with an arrow and then go hit it with your zora underwater magic shield thing
that's all you do

but it really is that easy, i have no idea why people don't know to do it that way

...there is no possible way to mess this up, z-target him and shoot him with an arrow. it can't even miss. then when he's stunned just get in the water above him and sink to him and use your magic shield as a zora. or swim at him and do it. whatever. you have so much time to do it that i can't even imagine where the difficulty could come from.

but yeah i remember when i was streaming majora and you guys were like "ugh i hate this boss" when i fought gyorg. i've never actually watched someone else fight him i don't think, so i have no idea how most people do it.
goht was fun but kind of ridiculously easy. like it's a cool concept but there's not really much chance of you dying.
well "no chance of you dying" is basically 75% of all zelda bosses anyway
dying on a boss a lot sucks and is a dumb feature to havei n games. it is less fun .unless u have like a check point right infront of boss
Quote from: N o t S i d on October 11, 2012, 10:38:01 AM

that happened to me. It froze during the second boss fight and i lost my progress for the entire dungeon and haven't touched it since then. i was pissed
the only zelda boss i actually died from was the giant purple tentacle monster in skyward sword because i didn't have any idea about what to do for a little (also korok or whatever because i didn't think you could pick up his sword)
i mean there's the normal zelda easy and then there's goht, which is literally "just roll around for a while with someone rolling around with you and catch up to it every now and then and we'll throw some obstacles in your path but you can easily avoid them and if you don't then no harm no foul"

I always start on the 2nd quest 5thgrade;
lesser crimes include:
-not collecting every fairy in mm and thus being unable to obtain the great fairy sword because one of the very first fairies encountered is in a relatively enclosed area underwater and and just thinking about it induces claustrophobia
-never collecting every heart piece in any zelda ever
-not getting oot's ice arrows (until this very year) because the timed puzzles in the very first room of that gerudo mini-dungeon made me way too anxious to complete them

Turn based Mechanics is outdated, but they have died. it is like watching old spy b movies or smth like that. it is good because it is aged and in a way ~bad~

actually, this may be my worst one of them all
it pains me to admit that i was one of those fuck;ers who was abhorred by wind waker's art style when i first became aware of it, i specifically remember thinking it had "worse graphics (artistically) than ocarina of time"
thankfully it grew on me in time, it's easily the prettiest 3d zelda and the only 3d zelda game that virtually hasn't age at all while all the others even as recent as twilight princess look like garbed super fx-era messes today
i do, but that style seems much more appropriate for a sci-fi space-faring game than it would be for something like zelda lol

i think games like a link to the past aged very well...but i dunno, well-done 16 bit still just looks very appealing to me, and a link to the past is a very colorful and visually interesting game

agreed, that's why i made sure to exclude the 2d games from my complaint about zelda games aging poorly lol
the only 2d zeldas that have aged badly are the very first two imo, while alttp/ooa/oos/mc will always look great
If you think about it from the Atari to the SNES they were working on getting 2D right, and it ended with the SNES being the best 2D arguably. Now the 3D generation, N64 - Wii are like the earlier consoles to the SNES. My point is your only gonna enjoy the realistic zelda graphics as they come, and once they're time has past....well then they look bad, like how the NES Zelda is crap to ALttP. I think WW and SS both are amazing looking games, but I also think they achieved that by avoiding realism. I need to play TP again, but I think that was an awesome looking game too, just dark.
