Ghost Hunt was really good, I just watched it not too long ago.  It wasn't all that scary, but it has it's moments.

If you want good anime, try: One Piece, FullMetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, and Samurai Champloo.
If you want funny anime: Shin Chan

FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Paranoia Agent, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Be aware that all of the above animes can be a bit complex and you won't like them unless you watch them from start to finish. Though I suppose some Cowboy Bebop episodes work okay as stand-alone episodes.
