It allows anyone to scan and listen to a short-wave receiver.
Some interesting things can be heard. What can you find? At 7145.17 kHz there was a conversation in English with someone named Alex from Northern Italy. Supposedly it was a civilian flight. Also, there is a lot of Morse code, too. German at 540.11 kHz. Someone is saying it's German story telling. You can also find music too.

7091.91 kHz : United flight CE640
547.67 kHz AM: Jazz
7086.02 kHz AM : Police

You can scan on your own by clicking or dragging or can you enter the frequency. Then you can either manually change the bandwidth or click one.

I remember when I had a walkie-talkie, and my friend was hitting on some girl.  Then there was one time when I listened to the police.

I remember I had a CB radio, I jammed a nail into the antenna socket and wrapped a 120ft thing of copper wire around it, tied a nut to the other end and threw it up over a tree. Picked up shit in Ecuador.
