Title: EVE Online
Post by: wawi on June 29, 2010, 01:59:59 PM
Well, since that big wipeout, my old EVE Online thread was erased. I see some other members finally decided to try EVE Online so here's a new thread.

You can post your ships, fittings, advice, questions, etc. in this thread.

And to everyone who bought it during the sale, welcome o7
(https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3384933/2010.06.29.20.22.18.png)
A Catalyst with 3 light electron blaster 1's with antimatter charges, 3 ep-5 gaussian excavation pulses, and a civilian booster shield 1.  baddood; I occasionally drop two expanded cargo bays on it when I'm just mining. I can't keep it like that for missions though cause it makes my ship wayyy too slow. When I did get attacked mining I couldn't even catch up to the pirate.

I also added you to my contact list.  :3

My character is named ValaM alDoran

totally didn't steal that name from Stargate SG-1

I take it you're Gallente, good choice comrade  Reichdood;
I could give you some ships so you can specialize them with combat, mining, etc.
It's bad to focus a ship on multiple things.
Like the Navitas frigate:

Gallente Frigate Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to cargo capacity and 20% bonus to mining laser yield per skill level.

Role Bonus: -60% mining laser capacitor use

Look at what ships give certain bonuses. Also, make sure your core learning skills are up.

Yea I ended up being a Gallente cause they seemed cool  baddood;

What is a good mining ship? I have a Navitas should I just use that for mining even though it has a smaller sized cargo bay?

Can you fly a Procurer yet? Or a Vexor?
If not go with a Navitas. What system do you mine in?

I'm closer to a Vexor than Procurer so I probably will set up my skills over the next few days to get one of those.

And it depends on whatever system I am in for quests and such. I can't remember the name of the one I am in now but I do remember it is .8 security. Where are some good mining spots?

A year. I stopped for a couple months after my trial was up though.

giggle;
Also, the number one rule of EVE is to not fly what you can't afford to lose.
You will die, and you will make mistakes. I'd suggest joining a good corp to help learn the ropes.

I got it yesterday and it is awesome  baddood;

I've been using it for pure missioning at the moment so I have it equipped out with three medium sized hybrid railguns so I just am wiping through the enemies they throw at me like they are nothing  n_u

I'm also getting my learning abilities and all up then getting combat drones later today so I can safely use my vexor for mining without worrying about pirates.

I sold my Megathron
(http://www.tarski.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/eve_megathron.jpg)
And decided to downgrade to the Dominix. It's so much easier to fit and it's great with drones. It has a 375 m3 drone bay  RUB IT
I also can fit two large armor repairer IIs on the low slots. (Not to mention I gained 28 mil isk from downgrading)
(http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/eve/images/e/e7/Dominix.jpg)
I'm going to bring it down to our Alliance Sovereignty space and kill some rats (1.1 mil or more isk bounty each RUB IT)

Well, I finally decided to quit the corp I've been with since December. The CEO won't be pleased to find out but he hasn't been on recently. I decided to try out null sec and become a pirate wariodood;
