Piano isn't too hard to impress people who don't know anything about piano.
Learning 3rds, 4ths, and 5ths, plus basic major scales is really all you've got to do. Unless you actually want to impress someone who knows stuff about piano.
I can play guitar reasonably well, same goes for piano. I can also play the harmonica!
I know how to play the saxophone but lost interest.
I play the guitar. I'm not really that great at it, but I know that I'm doing, definitely not "pretending to know how to play."
My main problem is that my self-discipline in teaching myself to play is seriously lacking. I've had a guitar for three years, but it sounds like I've only been playing for a year.
Of course, maybe I'm just plain a slow learner.
i've played trumpet since fourth grade, i'm pretty good i guess i play it in the marching band
i HAVE a guitar but i don't know how to play it
I used to play the cello, the recorder, and the drums, as well as once being in chorus, but I quit them all before I went into junior high.
I don't regret quitting, either. Although, I do want to learn how to play the guitar at some point.
Also, like many of you guys, I do own a guitar (actually it's my brother's but he's never touched it), but I can't play a thing. :|
I used to play saxophone but I quit because my teacher was a bitch
I got a guitar almost two months ago. I'm getting a lot better but I'm still a beginner.
i have a keyboard, but i suck like all hell
i need a class :(

But then you need to learn how to actually read music and apply it to the instrument. goonish
Nobody is going to give a shit if you're like LOL WATCH ME PLAY Bb SCALE I AM PROFESHUNIL PENISIST!!!!!!!
I played the trumpet all through high school, starting in 4th grade. Haven't touched it since, and probably never will.

I was okay--could have been much better if I had actually applied myself to it. Then again, the same could be said for pretty much anything I've ever done.
I'll be sure to play Taps on it sometime before giving my trumpet the proper burial. happydood;

is piano the only thing you play or do you play another instrument for band?
i don't know because i haven't really been paying attention.
i haven't actually played a marimba because my band is poor, but i do like xylophone. i guess i'll get to try one in the fall when i'm at college.

uuh i didn't have enough room for band AND choir in my schedule and choir is more beneficial to my (what i like to call) career, so i had to axe band but i still play my flute and i learned piano to help me with choir, but i recently aquired an instrument called an EWI, which, with garageband and its own program, i can make sound like anything i want.

I kinda want to learn drums now that I have a kit just sitting in the corner of my room. n_u

Not to impress the average person who doesn't know what they're talking about.
I can play/read guitar tabs, play/read sheet music for the piano, and play a drum set.
But I suck at them all really bad.
Keys and flute well.
Bass semi-well.
I know all the notes on the guitar but can't read tabs or play chords for shit lol
i play the nose flute
I've played in a few bands here and there. You know, the kind that seem to fall apart after a few months. My girlfriend put something together a few years ago and we played a number of shows. I've sat in for a number of local groups as well.
I can play guitar and piani/keys pretty well.
Played classical violin for like nine years, but I want to get more blue-grassy instead. It's not a very easy transition.
I can play mandolin and ukulele pretty efficiently, if I have to. It's nice just sitting around with a uke once in a while.
I've got a nice little blues harp sitting around somewhere, but I cant for the life of me bend notes.
I have a wonky little theramin, but I can get a fairly decent theramin sound out of my microkorg. Plus, my only amp that I own started smoking once. I cant very well use it without one.
I absolutely love my microkorg. I know there are probably better synths for the same price or just a few higher, but I adore that thing.
I desperately want a hang drum. Pantheon steel is releasing a variant of it with Panart's blessing, called the HALO drum. It'll set me back like $1500 though. Some day.

Played Piano for 11 years now, Clarinet for 6, and Drums for 5. Picked up a little flute thing around the way which takes 0 skill to play. Learned bass guitar in a month to play in a musical. Performed in Jazz band concerts for the past 5 years and am head of the jazz band this year and next year. I played drums in a small jazz combo last year. I played in a musical the past 3 years, and then one before that. I've been in various concerts and performances, and compose a bit.
I'm currently doing Bach's prelude and fugue #2 on piano, linear drumming in odd tempos in drums, and I stopped taking lessons in clarinet to keep up with studies. I'm not really fantastic in any of these areas due to time constraints, although I get by in each. Never been in a serious group.
