Title: promising things YOU CANNOT DO
Post by: snorkel on May 04, 2009, 05:21:55 PM
I accidentally did this too much. I have 3 painting commissions going currently. one of them I promised would be done by the 8th, which means I need to ship it tomorrow, and I hardly have time tonight. the second is about 3 months overdue (it's a huge project) but the guy is getting increasingly mad. the third is not late yet but soon will be

in addition I have to come up with $400 within like 10 days, and sadly, the cash is not flowin.

once all of these things are completed, I will feel so much better, because being in debt or having an incomplete project for someone else looming is unbearable.

yeah it is. guy paid me $1300 on the big one to buy models and paint it -- about $650 profit for me. I also get the models wholesale at 42% off and sell them for 20-30% off, so I get a nice cut of that in addition to the actual service price

downside is I just forget for like 2 months and then go OH FUCK I HAVE TO PAINT LIKE 200 MODELS TONIGHT

Don't read Neitzche when it comes to memory and forgetting. It will consume you even more.

why

"Imagine in the extremest possible case of a man who did not possess the power of forgetting at all and who was thus condemned to see everywhere a state of becoming: such a man would no longer believe in his own being, would no longer believe in himself, would see everything flowing asunder in moving points and would lose himself in this stream of becoming... Forgetting is essential to action of any kind... it is altogether impossible to love at all without forgetting. Or, to express my theme even more simply: there is a degree of sleeplessness, or of rumination, of the historical sense, which is harmful and ultimately fatal to the living thing, whether this living thing be a man or a people or a culture..."

does that mean if you forget everything you'll be happy since you have no negative past

Wow. I just keep on going.

Alright, I'll try it one last time.
*filler innuendo here*
Is that any better?
Or should I try harder?
Or should I be harder?

Ohhman
Here comes the punchline.
