I'll pass.
Fucking yes.
The only thing I had a problem with was the lack of challenge in the Pokemon league. Also, they need to keep the starters' evolution levels the same. Other than having grass being the first to get its final form at level 32 and the others 36.

I hate the competitive aspect of pokemon. I tried to get into it, but there's SO MUCH INFORMATION to take in that it's barely worth it. Hell, I can't stand EV training or IV breeding either. The problem is that whenever I start a pokemon game, I feel like a scrub if I don't do any of that stuff so i usually just stop playing.

It's incredibly basic and easily understandable once you know at least a LITTLE about it. If you want to be competitive without bothering with EV training or IV breeding, well then you have two options.
Number one is download Shoddy Battle (http://shoddybattle.com/). It is essentially a battle simulator. You edit your team within minutes, go to the server of your choice (Smogon being the best, tiers wise and user amount), then simply either challenge someone or take on the ladder. It's an easy way to get in fast without having to breed and ev train for countless hours only to have the particular team or Pokémon fail. However, I suggest brushing up on tiers, movesets and team building before you go any further (http://www.smogon.com/).
Your second option is use a program called Pokésav, since I know you have a flashcard from your previous posts, you can use the cheats option on it and do basically what I said above only it's in the actual game itself(Only this method you can go overboard with stats so make sure you stay inside the actual game limits when editing). For more on that watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2awrJWfiNks
I mean that I can't force myself to go through the actual RPG without worrying about EVs and everything, because if I don't actually train for them, I feel like I'm not living up to my potential. I don't really care about competitive battling, but the whole aspect is keeping me from enjoying the RPGs that I once loved.

It's the only pokemon game that has replay value IMO. FireRed and LeafGreen gave me hope that the remake would happen soon. [:

Best part of g/s was going back to get the other badges.
It made me feel like I got two games for the price of one goowan
Fire red and Leaf Green's Elite Four was hard as all hell. I had to train like a bitch for months, learning everything about EVs and all that other metagame stuff just to have a team good enough to get past the first 3 of the 4 elite. I still haven't beaten Fire Red. And I barely understand half of the metagame training mumbo jumbo, but it is rather interesting.
I'm not getting my hopes up for a Gold/Silver remake until there is actual confirmation. Been let down too much by "major game announcement".
Quote from: whoever said thisI hope they remake yellow...
WHY HAVEN'T THEY IMPLEMENTED THAT POKEMON FOLLOWING SYSTEM INTO ANY OTHER GAME YET?! That's the main reason I chose Yellow over Blue (already had Red, was going to get either Blue or Yellow for my Birthday), I felt like Ash, I want that feeling again ;-; I thought they would put it into D/P, seeing as the graphics were remade, and the pokemon trailing you would look so much cooler.
They already have the sprites for the in-game pokemon, they just need to put them into the world. Make me feel much more attached to my pokemon if I can see them walking alongside me.

Rumors project that Nintendo is going to shake up breeding a bit. Apparently it's possible that certain pokemon that you breed will gain unique visual effects based upon who there parents were. So I guess it would be somewhat similar to those pink/blue snails in Diamond and Pearl

More Details from CoroCoro for HeartGold & Soul Silver
Some further scans have come out and have shown that the Pokémon that follow you are not limited to the starters. There are screenshots of Steelix, Wobbuffet and Kecleon following the games character. You can turn to your Pokémon at any time and get some sort of dialogue with them to see when they're happy or in trouble. You even seem to be able to collect accessories from them similar to in Amity Square. All 493 Pokémon are capable of following you
There is also a screenshot which shows that the Pokédex & Box navigation has received a new touch screen style navigation scheme. The Touch Screen utilisation has been fully implemented into this game. All previous information has since been confirmed, including the Arceus bits from Wednesday.
The map of Johto in the background confirms that the game heads east towards Kanto and shows Route 28 by Mt. Silver. It also shows a new area has appeared just west of the National Park. It is unknown what this place is.
Pre-orders for the games begins on July 4th. If you pre-order, you will get a Ho-Oh figure for Heart Gold, a Lugia for Soul Silver and an Arceus if you pre-order both.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! ANY POKEMON CAN FOLLOW YOU, YOU WILL GET A FIGURINE FOR PREORDERING, AND YOU CAN GO TO FUCKING KANTO! I AM BUYING THIS GAME THREE TIMES OVER!

In Japan, the first Pokemon games were Red and Green.
Everywhere else in the world, the first pair were Red and Blue, which both had slightly better quality visuals than Japan's first two games (and the same sprites as another Japan-only third version of the same name, Blue).
Firered and Leafgreen just didn't bother with the weird naming and they're technically remakes of the Japan-exclusive predecessor of Red/Blue.

Yeah I never played my GBA, so any GBA pokemon games are over my head.
Gold, Silver, and Crystal were pretty much the greatest games in the series. While the Gen III and IV games blew away GSC's crappy interface, they could not match up to the fun story and replay value of Gold and Silver.
Diamond and Pearl kinda sucked because they were too easy, all the new Pokemans were boring, and Sinnoh was a shitty region. FireRed and LeafGreen were a huge success, so I pray that D/P's shittiness doesn't transfer over to HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Another thing about D/P/P is that if you exclude legendaries, Fire types got shafted with the starter Chimchar and his evolution chain being the only new Fire types, and Ponyta/Rapidash being the only other Fire type available for most of the game.

Well I didn't like Totodile back in Gen2, but that's because it's stat growth didn't go well with its type in that generation. Hell, it wasn't until Gen4 (D/P/P) that each type was hardlocked into Physical and Special attacks. I would imagine Totodile's evolution tree to be much more effective now that attacks like Aqua Tail are going to draw from its Physical Attack stat and not its pathetic-excuse-for-a-Special-Attack stat.
As for the other 2, Cyndaquil's stats play well for offensive fire, and Chikorita's stats and move pool work well for a bulky grass type.
Also, G/S/C is the only starter set that is always a pure type, aka not Grass/Poison Bulbasaur, not Fire/Flying Charizard, not Water/Steel (ololwat) Empoleon.

Well that's where it came from. Totodile's case, and my dislike of bulky pokemon and Cyndiquil in general just turned me away from that generation and left a bad impression on me. I agree that they'll do much better with the stat changes and hopefully I'll enjoy the game.
Gold/silver definitely had my least favorite starter pokemon. I really had no affinity for any of them like in red/blue I always got bulbasaur then i always got torchic in sapphire/emerald. In gold and silver I really didn't care about the starter ones and replaced them as soon as I could.
G/S was my favorite generation. Totodile is one of my favorite pokemons too ;-;

I lurked on serebii for years. I've seen worse.
And I brought that stuff up because I still have the Official Gold & Silver strategy guide from 2nd gen somewhere that came with a poster with all 251 Pokemon on it. baddood;
And a gen1 Pokemon blanket with Pikachu and the gen1 starters on it. And a Pikachu pillow from the same timeframe. Oh, and I think I still have the 3 pins that came with my Silver pre-order as well. You know, the ones that came in translucent plastic pokeballs that held Lugia, Bellossom, and Pikachu.
Yes I like Pokemon a lot. sillydood; sillydood; sillydood; sillydood; sillydood;
First trailer's out

It comes out in Japan today.
I can't wait, apparently you can get starters from both RBY and RSE. And you can change the game to retro mode, which has 8-bit music and (doubtful) 8-bit graphics giggle;

Yeah I saw that too.
This game really can't come soon enough.
lol bump
I don't have a DS, but it'd be a really hard decision for me to choose if I were to get one. I like Gold version more because I like Ho-Oh more, but I found out that Mareep is so much harder to get in Heart Gold than it is in Soul Silver. I don't even know what I could choose from.

I have one of those. It is awesome.
Also fire starters always fail.
Tricker you can get everything either way, that is what the GTS is for.
GTS was actually pretty awesome. They did a great job with it in Diamond.
