which one do you prefer and why
cam's other friend said i have terrible taste in sequels because i prefer galaxy to 64
all in all i thought it had far better level design then any 3d mario
Definitely Galaxy. Super Mario 64 just seemed rather bland.
galaxy
64's controls were balls
From what I've played Galaxy. I beat 64 but I've played a quarter or so of SMG.
Galaxy, for sure.
Galaxy

It's because it kind of was. It didn't age all that well either.
but try to tell that to cam's other friend

It may not have aged well or anything, but I still like playing around in it a lot. I can't remember the last time I actually played it normally though. It's just fun to take advantage of how easy it is to speed-run certain things with long jumps.

Yeah I do that sometimes. Haven't played it in a long time though because my friend has my copy.

Yes. thumbup;
I never owned an N64 during it's prime, so I never got to experience Super Mario 64 when it was called one of the best games ever. I played it a few years ago for the first time and found it really boring. Galaxy ftw.
64 for sure. Galaxy was so damn linear.

I agree.
but cam's other friend is all like NO SM64 IS BETTER
banjo was a complete ripoff but it was 10x better than 64

I didn't give two shits about it being more linear
the platforming was 10x better in galaxy then in 64, so was the level design and bosses.
64 is a classic and stuff, and the levels are a bit more memorable.
But Galaxy is still great too.
I guess..........
idk befuddlement
Galaxy. No question.
Mario 64 was just good because it was the first of it's kind. Now it's bleh.
Galaxy's definitely better. Mario 64 is pretty good, the only thing is, the controls absolutely suck.
Then again, I only have the DS version...
Galaxy, most definitely. 64 did nothing for me.

Considering the only real bosses were Bowser

oh the ds one had horrid controls
64, but probably because I just remember it fondly while I got bored with Galaxy.

how'd you get the XBLA version so early?!? :(
64. I hate Galaxy. I guess maybe because it's hyped to hell and I found it nothing special. I will admit though that Galaxy has some pretty fun levels, but I can't remember the names like I can 64's levels. Dire Dire Docks, Wet Dry World, Shifting Sand Land...

Uh, the reason you're able to remember the names has more to do with the fact that you've had exposure to the game for more than 10 years than whether they're better or not.
I guess you're right. I hardly play Galaxy, but still.
I like Galaxy better. I don't remember 64 itself at all, but I do remember playing 64 DS, which is close enough. I just like Galaxy's stages, visual style (not graphics quality), and missions better.
On a side note, one thing I felt like all three 3D Mario platformers (including Sunshine) were missing is co-op multiplayer with Mario and Luigi at the same time.

Agreed. I believe it was planned for Galaxy, but the idea was scrapped and instead they gave us the "Co-Star" garbage. :'(

They had Luigi playable. And they had 2-player co-op. If only they combined those two to make Mario&Luigi co-op together
I remember hearing that NSMB would be co-op as well. That would of made the game wayy better IMO.

I got absolute shit when I reserved it, and when I picked it up the employees said they had no idea what I was talking about. :(
Where's SMS? Wasn't that also a game that falls under this category? madood;

Sunshine is by far the worst 3D Mario platform in my opinion. Using FLUDD in tandem with a bunch of other shit was cumbersome, to say the least. It didn't help that most of the levels were just annoying to play on and the camera was a huge asshole throughout the game.

In my opinion, it is the worst 3D Mario platform, but that's only because the other two are really good, not because it sucks. I think FLUDD would have worked best as a temporary power-up.

The camera was really only an asshole in the hotel level if you ask me, and for the most part FLUDD was really easy to use.
Maybe you just suck at the game. n_u
or you like to overreact i dunno
But regardless, I think Sunshine is a great game, but I think I liked Galaxy more.
Sunshine is the only game I have yet to beat. However, I finally purchased it yesterday. It's pretty good so far. n_u

I never ended up beating it because it pissed me off so much.

I got so pissed that's what they did for me.
Not only was I not able to get Nuts and Bolts they had me sitting behind the counter for 30 minutes digging through all their shit.
They eventually found the little code but I couldn't get Nuts and Bolts because it wasn't even unpackaged yet due to every employee focusing on World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. >.<
I sucked at 64. I think Galaxy would be more funner to moonjump (not that I'm goingto risk my Wii with an Action Replay though) in. I'll pick Galaxy.
I guess I suck at Galaxy. The camera is an asshole to me in that game. psyduck;

But really, Galaxy's camera was fine throughout the majority of the game. I recall having one problem. befuddlement

Fludd just pissed me off akudood;
I found Galaxy's level design to be ok, I mean it was creative, there just wasn't that much to explore.
the very last part with the fully circular lava thing was amazing.
