Anyone getting it? If you own it, how is it?
I'll hopefully be getting it tomorrow. I was torn between Dead Space or SOCOM: Confrontation with the headset.
I'll be buying Dead Space if I can get the money. Hopefully it'll rule.
It doesn't look very good to me doodthing;
I mean, I'm sure it's fine, but nothing worth $60.00
i wanna get it but i might pass because i only have enough money for two games till christmas
Buying it tomorrow or Wednesday, depends on when my store gets it.
It looks fucking good, RE4-like gameplay with a creepy atmosphere and and scares. :3

No, it didn't, lol.
Pretty much most of the scares were gone after your first encounter with Dr. Salvador.
Then you get the shot gun and its not so scary anymore when you can keep whole hordes of zombies off you and blow their heads off easy, it pretty much just becomes an action-game.
I can't decide between Dead Space or MGS4.
I want both so bad. D:

You mean the blind things with the thing on their backs? You could pretty much tell it was going to attack you the first time, and it wasn't that scary looking. All the other times you fight them they're just annoying. :[
I do not remember this lizard guy tho.

And the oven man I think refers to a ganado that just jumps out of an incinerator somewhere on the island.

Resident Evil 4 has LOTS of influences on it. Huge problem: Too much ammo and health. I'm playing on normal, should probably play on hard.

I can never stomp them to death unless I feel like getting hit by their arms.
My usual strategy is to shoot one of their legs off and then take out one of their arms, takes about three bullets per thing.
Anyways, I finished the first chapter. Pretty good so far. The only real scares its gotten from me so far were two cheap fake dead body scares. ;_;
I'm on chapter 5 and had only one scare.
If you've played Silent Hill 2, there wasn't anything like "BOO!" scary about it. It was all out creepy scary. Not too many pop out things. Silent Hill 2 still takes the cake but Dead Space is a close 2nd to the best horror game.
Cons: Too easy so far, too much ammo, too much health, no bosses so far.

I think it's Resident Evil 4 + Bioshock.
The graphics have a very cool look to them, and no HUB is awesome and I wish more games did this.
are most of you playing this on the 360?
I am
The coolest death ever: (chapter 8 or 9)
You fight these new long skinny things, and I guess once you kill them their heads pop off and are just skulls with long ass legs that jump on you.
I let one of them kill me to see what happens. It's so fucking awesome. It like rips off your head and then jumps into your neck and mind controls you.
The game got a little bit harder and there is less ammo around and less health. I like it a lot. Needs more bosses and less people talking to you. I loved the empty feeling Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3 gave, this game has too many people talking to you at all times.
I wish they had more feelings in the characters, like meeting one of the other crew. He/she would be on the floor sobbing and crying, missing a limb or something.
I'm only on chapter 3. I love it, though.
Dead Space fucking rules

So now that most of the big hitters are out, how does dead space compare to Fallout, Gears, and whatever else is out?
Is it a top game worth getting, or should I pass on it, and hope that I play it someday.
sorry but i had to bump this-
Quote45. To create the gruesome Necromorph monsters in their game Dead Space, the devs at EA Redwood Shores studied photos of car wreck victims. They also watched hundreds of horror movies to get ideas for in-game scares.

Dead Space isn't worth buying for $60 because it's only 8-12 hours long and has little replay but it is awesome and probably one of my favorite games ever for the next gen consoles.

You're kidding me right? With the new game+ feature you have to play it at least twice. Not to mention every time you play it over again you are still upgrading your equipment. Also, since you can only carry 4 weapons at a time, you get to continue to experiment with new weapons, and don't forget the DLC suits and weapon skins. I'm pretty sure there is DLC that will bump up the damage on many weapons.

Maybe 1-3 play throughs. I'll be getting the next Dead Space game.

Example....mario kart has good replay value....because its a pick up and play game
Most games with a heavy story IMO dont have very good replay value...unless it has a +newgame and like unlockable stuff.
Replay value to me is really once you finish the main game, is there still stuff to do or not.
Hopefully you get what I'm saying, because I'm starting to lose myself.

As compared to something like Halo, where there is a story but there is also multiplayer.
