Title: What was the first book you read?

I don't know but I remember reading Where the Sidewalk Ends with my dad and other Shel books.

I've been reading nearly all my life and there's no way I could begin to make a guess as to the first book I ever read.

The first picture book I remember reading was 10 Apples up on Top

the first chapter book I remember that I read out of choice (not the ones they give you in 1 and 2 grade) was Where the Red Fern Grows

I remember, when I was five, I thought "GOD DAMMIT I'M GONNA BE IN FIRST GRADE SOON AND I CAN'T READ". Then one day I grabbed a Dr. Seuss book. I forgot which one, but the cover had a yellow hairy guy on it, I think. I opened it up and I was like "HOLY SHIT I CAN READ"
