I was bored after school and didn't have to take my brother home so I stopped at Lunds. I got a six-pack of lime H2Oh! and some Pringles, and the total was like $3.50
that's amazing
with twenty dolla you could have meals for a week
If you can be bothered going through bins (or trash cans or whatever you call them) then you can eat for free.
There's a store near me that sells stuff insanely cheaply. So cheaply I'm not sure where the fuck it gets its stock from or how it stays open. IDK if you have the Galaxy brand of chocolate in America [edit: I looked and you do, but it's called Dove], but it's slightly expensive compared to regular chocolate. Nice as hell though. Anyway, 150g bars of this stuff usually cost like Ã,£1.19 or something in regular shops, yet this place was selling them today for 49p each. And I don't know how the fuck they can, unless other shops are vastly overcharging. It tastes fine too.
Pretty sure if I shopped at this place every day I could live on pittance.

1 box of pasta = 2 meals = 1 dollar
so buy like 7 boxes of pasta, 1.5 dozen eggs,(1 dozen costs 3 bucks) and some bread and you have meals for week :|
7x1 = $7 of pasta
2*3 = $6 of eggs
1*2 = $2 of bread
1*3.5= $3.50 of milk
$18.50 CAN GET YOU FOOD FOR A WEEK.
SPEND THAT 1.50 ON LIKE SOME OATMEAL

it's highly unlikely to contract those diseases in a week
yeah the distinction between prepared and unprepared foods is weird. I mean, many packaged foods like bread, cereals, etc. have to be cooked before they go into boxes and are edible right out of the box.

I assumed we were talking on how you could live on $20 per week, which would imply the duration of such lifestyle would be at least two weeks.

the mta is a great subway system, it gets you pretty much anywhere in new york
to settle this thread: the NYC subway sucks compared to other subways in the world, you wouldn't contract diseases in a week, $20 will last you a week on food, Wisconsin is one of the worst states, and no one in the country gets taxed on food (usually).

Yeah outside of Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin sucks... Still better than the Dakotas, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, Vermont, and New Hampshire though. Tied with Maine, Minnesota, Utah, Colorado.

I would love to know how you're able to make this claim.
Groceries are expensive as hell where I live because there's only one grocery store, so they basically run a monopoly on the whole Baudette area.
They're expensive here, too. The price has doubled in the last year. smithicide;
Groceries seem to be very expensive here but some places are much better than others. In Arizona they only tax you on prepared food, I'm not sure if other places are like that but I don't know what our taxes are like.
Canada is %13 everywhere, right? That seemed really unfortunate when I was up there because I felt like I was loosing a lot.
I don't buy my own groceries though and I won't for another year and a half but I'm not too worried about that because I live pretty cheaply and JMV made me feel better with his under 20$ food week plan but I really like apples.
