Title: The State of the Economy
Post by: Daddy on September 22, 2008, 08:49:36 PM
WHAT SAY YE

Banks failing, HUGE government bailouts, XBOX HUGE GAS PRICES, and all that shit: Where are we going?

$700 Billion dollars to bailout the failing institutions? It's coming from our tax dollars.  What are we paying for?  We're paying to keep the banks that charge 25 dollars if we overdraw our accounts by 3 cents.  We're paying to keep companies like AIG alive and able to charge exhorbant premiums that cover vague instances, and once you make a claim, may increase the premium.
Our tax dollars are going towards this.

The value of the dollar?  lol no; what value?

Price of Gas? We'd probably get more mileage per dollar burning our money with these prices.

WHERE DO YOU THINK WE ARE GOING IN THIS CURRENT ECONOMIC STATE

I think we need to elect Obama, and just deal with the fact that higher taxes might just help build the economy back up a la New Deal

I think a lot of America's problems could be solved through democratic economic reform, however this entails a lean towards utilitarianism, which in america has mistakenly become synonymous with socialism, and that would of course imply an infringment on your oh so precious capitalism  doodthing;

Obama and McCain probably will both suspend their campaigns to "deal with this crisis," like their actions are anything but political jabs at each other. Still, it'll be nice to see who's the better politician, and who can outsmart the other.

Obama actually has a chance to improve the economy though... How McCain can do anything without raising taxes is beyond me

We may very well get one if we keep taking it up the ass from the Bush administration.

Yeah that sucks, the only thing that I can think of that's similar here is when Maytag closed its plant last year and the company that is replacing it will only hire about half of what Maytag employed.

Don't we always? Because this is the great US of A.

But really, it's not just us, everywhere else is going downhill too (Except for Iran because of all the money they have from oil?)

Where did we go wrong? We need time machines already, though They're like, impossible to build.

My dad's lost over $5000 in investments over the last month.
Yay I have to buy my own first car now toot;

But seriously this is pretty gay. He's tempted to invest in microsoft stock, seeing as it's really low, and he could make a killing if it came back to normal.

I'm gonna say that we will need to find a solution sometime very soon. I believe in causes such as global warming, and if we keep doing what we are doing now, I guarentee you, it will be so hard to keep moving on in 15 years. Gas prices will be so high that people won't have enough money to drive to work.
