Title: Is this a good computer (for the price, and for my needs).
Post by: hotlikesauce. on August 02, 2008, 06:03:54 PM
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Acer-Extensa-EX5620-4801-15-4-Widescreen-Laptop-EX56204801/sem/rpsm/oid/215818/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

When I get this, it will be my own computer. Therefore, I am torrenting/limewireing all the shit I can, and downloading whatever programs I feel like downloading, just because my parents can't tell me otherwise.

 I'd want more memory and a bigger hard drive. At least more memory.

I guess if you need a cheap computer for low-intensity general use it would be fine. Don't expect to be doing any graphics-heavy tasks (i.e. playing cool games), since it appears to have onboard graphics, and 1.86GHz dual-core Pentium is nothing to be proud of.

Also it's ugly as shit but again if it's in your price range and you really don't need to do anything but browse Boyah then it will work for you.

Yeah. I don't play computer games at all, and I don't imagine I will.

(I also don't see how 3GB isn't enough memory).

A dual core will get it done, won't it?

3 Gigs of RAM should be fine, and it'll get the job done, just a little slower than the higher-end processors.

Because it's dual channel ram, and when you add another gig, it fucks up the dual channel thing.

It's always better to go with 2 gigs, or 4 gigs.

then down it to 2 because for what he's looking for even 1 would be more than he needs

More is better.   Q('_' Q)    I reget not getting more on mine when I got it. I started with 1 Now I am up to 3. Better to get more than you need than be sorry.   psyduck; It isn't that expensive is it?

at this point more than a gig is generally useless unless you're gaming or doing professional level media production stuff. psyduck;
