I'm going with GH because I can't really afford to get a system other than the Wii. I've refused to buy Rock Band Wii thus far because of the lack of downloadable content.

But the new GH seems attractive to me. And on top of that, songs look like they're gonna be better.

DO WANT "One step closer", but I gotta get the Wii game. This GH actually has downloadable content for the Wii which is very encouraging. Plus I stay true to my series.

There are alot of things Harmonix did to make the Wii version inferior and shitty compared to the other ones, such as a lack of online capabilities period, nor any character customization.

Guitar Hero looks better feature wise, and the guitar hero controllers and interface feel a lot nicer than the rock band ones to me, but rock band 2 has a much much better track list so far.
And the Guitar Hero drumset is a lot lot lot nicer

They also have like 3x the amount of songs announcesd, who knows what the final GH track list will look like.

That's true, but it doesn't get much better than Dream Theater and Megadeth.
Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool are all supposed to be on GH:WT

I'm still going to get both. But If I had to choose one it would be Rock Band 2. It just sucks now because I have to buy another drum set for Guitar hero: World Tour. Why do they even call it Guitar hero if it involves the whole damn band?

I don't know how many times this has been brought up on /v/ or any other place video game discussion is allowed, but the bottom line is:
Guitar Hero is a franchise. Since the name is licensed, I doubt that they will toss out the brand name now, Guitar Hero is a household name now, ya dig? If Bounty changed it's name to "Special Tough Towel Paper"  no one would recognize it. It's the same deal with Guitar Hero, so as nto to confuse current owners of any "Guitar Hero" products.

â,¢ After 14 years since Guns Nâ,,, Roses last official music release, Axl Rose selects Rock Band 2 to debut official new track â,"Shackler's Revengeâ, from the highly-anticipated album Chinese Democracy.

â,¢ Rock Band 2 is the first and only video game to feature the music of AC/DC. It includes their epic rock anthem, "Let There Be Rock.â,

â,¢ For the first time ever, music from American music icon, Bob Dylan, is featured in a video game with â,"Tangled Up In Blue.â,

â,¢ Rock Band 2 will feature backwards compatibility with all Rock Band downloadable music content released to date.

â,¢ Owners of the original Rock Band will have the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay-the first time ever in videogame history! [1]

â,¢ With ongoing weekly DLC releases including individual tracks, track packs and full albums, the Rock Band music library will feature more than 500 songs by yearâ,,,s end!

Wasn't "Don't Fear the Reaper" in the last Rock Band?

Yep.

I barely know any of the songs in Rock Band 2... GH I know more songs at least, even if I don't like all of them.

AND WHERE IS THE CLASH

I certainly like Rock Band 2's song list far more. But I don't care either way, they can't possibly improve on anything and it'll be just like the new "DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION 38: SUPER KAWAII DESU NE EDITION ^_^".

Why are both symbols different colors in Guitar Hero?

I mean, they make the same noise in real life, why does it matter which one you hit? They probably just did it so you would have to buy their drum kit if you wanted to play drums.

No. You can get several types of cymbals that all sound unique.

Man, Rock Band 2 has a lot of sweet metal songs. I'm still not buying it though.
