dynamite headdy, ecco series, phantasy star ii and especially iv, thunder/lightening force series, sonic series (minus 3d and the first one), tj&e series, vectorman series, etc.
The Genesis has plenty of great games, and I didn't even cover any of the obscure ones.

The Wonder Boy games are MUCH better than the Zelda games.
Super Metroid is great, but every time I go back to it it's not as good. Fusion is the best and the Genesis has more than enough games to counter SM.
Also, the Sonic series and all those other great platformers beat Super mario World and even Kirby Superstar.
