Title: Do you own any Japanese games or systems?
Post by: bluaki on March 21, 2008, 06:14:25 PM
I have five, they're all for DS:
Nintendo DS Lite: Enamel Navy color
Pocket Monster Diamond (ã'ã‚±ã''ã'ˆã,,ã'¢ã'³ã‚¹ã‚¿ã'¼ã,,ã',イã'¤ã'¢ã'³ã'‰)
Ace Attorney 1/Gyakuten Saiban: Yomigaeru Gyakuten (é,†è»¢è£åˆ¤ 蘇るé,†è»¢)
Ace Attorney 2/Gyakuten Saiban 2 (é,†è»¢è£åˆ¤ï¼’)
Ace Attorney 3/Gyakuten Saiban 3 (é,†è»¢è£åˆ¤ï¼“)

My reasons for getting them:
I love Enamel Navy color giggle;
I plan to try to learn Japanese... eventually. Pokemon helps with that, I can read Kana at a pretty good speed now already because of it but I still don't know what any words mean. I'm actually further on my Japanese than English game.
The Ace Attorney games have both English and Japanese and it costs the same price as the North American games. Whenever I get to the point where I can actually read its Japanese, it probably would help to have the games as reading context.

I've been thinking of buying a foreign Gamecube game, I have an Action Replay with Freeloader. I guess probably either Wind Waker or Pikmin 2.

Mother 3 Deluxe Box (came with Mother 3 red GB Micro, Franklin Badge, game, special red sleeve)
Grandia: Parallel Trippers (got it for $2 and while I don't understand a word of it I like it)
Some Sakura dating sim for GBC that's in some hugeass box with a bunch of slop (got it because it was big and $5)
Densetsu no Stafi 2
Densetsu no Stafi 3
Densetsu no Stafi 4 (all the games except the first one are awesome and you should get them and if you want them I'll provide links so I can earn a few dollars)
In the Hunt, for Saturn
Megaman Zero 2
Mwgaman Zero 3
Mother 1+2
Contra: Hard Spirits
Orbital
Dotstream
Pilotwings 64
DK Country 3
Mother 2
Some Fushigi Dungeon or some shit because it was cheap. Never played it.
Fantasy Zone Gear
R-9 Arrow-Head collectible
Action Replay/RAM cart/save cart for Saturn
Some kooky and bad platformer based on a dumb animu or something. I'd review it if I knew what the name of it was.

Feast on that, bitch.

Why would you buy a game that's out in the US in Japanese?  befuddlement
If I import anything, it's gotta be something that'll never make it to the states.

Because most of the games I got are a fraction of the price of American games.

Megaman Zero 2 and 3 were $5 each, brand new and sealed. They were also my first Megaman games and I only bought 2 because it was so cheap and loved it.

PSP Slim & Lite Ceramic White.

And I'm planing on importing a Ceramic White PlayStation 3 [And Ceramic White DualShock 3], a DS Lite not sure what colour maybe that metalic pink and some games for it, and I'm going to look for a used Japanese PS2 on eBay so I can play Kingodm Hearts II Final Mix+ and maybe some of those other quirky Japan only PS2 games.

Using a freeloader on Gamecube or Wii, can I use the same memory card for US and JP games?
I wonder about the Wii freeloader, would I have to move all my US data to SD cards? What about unmoveable data?

Also can someone link me to a Mother game ROM?
I won't buy it until after playing the ROM enough to see if I'll like it.

For Gamecube, it'll corrupt your memory card if different regions data is stored on it, so get a different memory card for a different region.

Also google lol

How can you like it so much when it's in Japanese? The best part about Earthbound was the writing.
I've always wondered that

Plenty of entertainment can be derived just from the actions of the characters and the battle system is just plain awesome as well as the enemies.

I just wished there were starmen. :'(

fuck you, i want to play it in english and we all know nintendo is never going to release it here
Regardless, you can still buy it and support the developers. It's not as big a deal to me if you buy games that are no longer in production, but Itoi and his clan of gods are still pumping out copies of it and pondering if it's worth making a sequel or new game of any sorts.

The man can do no wrong, and you'd be stealing his glorious work.

if you buy it, and it's often just $20, i don't care if you download a rom and apply a patch since i at least know you own a copy and gave the wonderful developers their cash
