Fuck yeah. baddood;

"The second big difference (in Mario Kart Wii compared to the rest of the series) is the removal of snaking. Ever since the N64 game, practically every Mario Kart game has included the ability to get a speed boost by waggling the controls left and right as you powerslide. This has finally been scrapped, and now your speed boost is determined by how long you can hold the slide."
Oh well. It was good while it lasted. But I am kinda glad that it is scrapped, it was getting boring.
"When youââ,¬â,,¢re not going full-throttle toward the finish line, you can see how you stack up against others in the Mario Kart Channel . Here, your best times on tracks are compared to other racers from around the world. You can also see which characters and control methods were used to record this time. See someone with a better time than yours? The Mario Kart Channel also lets you download their ghost data to your Wii and race against the best!"
Probably old news because I haven't been keeping track of MKWii. But that just made my day. baddood;

My friend: "I have tendonitis in my thumb from "overworking" in in mkds. It's gonna take 6 months to heal, and if I keep on using it then I will develop premature arthritis in my thumb.
Fuck."

Lol, yeah it got to be a pain. Sucks for your friend
Well, now there will be officially no skill involved in MKWii. Damn, I was so excited to snake by tilting the wii-mote.
Wh...wha??? I used to do that all the time...weren't you supposed to? gonk; I remember NSider fags whining about people snaking...it's a part of the game you're meant to use and not to mention how easy it is to pull off.
Fuck you Nintendo.

Why is everyone so opposed to snaking? I think that powersliding is a key asset to mario kart games. Without it, there is no skill what so ever.

these two things do not belong
"I really did shed a tear of joy when I read that items can be turned off in multiplayer. Finally no more losing to haxy players in last place getting the Spiny shell which doesn't benefit them at all."
Is that true? I'm too lazy to read the reveiw. I can understand snaking, even though I was a snaker. But if you can do that on Wifi, and I come across a race set with no items. I will not be participating in that race. baddood;
this game is so close to releasing

srsly I don't see why you'd take them out. Except for like extreme skill competitions.
Which I find stupid for a MK game. doodthing;
How dare they make my arcade racer more realistic :|

That sucks, without powerslides the game pretty much loses the whole skill factor. :(
WHY DOES NOBODY LISTEN TO MY POSTS baddood;
I never really got into MKDS like you guys so I never learned.

Are there any games that you actually have knowledge about?
Listen guys, mkds, you're racing, and you get a blue shell. Suddenly you're now 3rd in place, but since you're so skilled at snaking, and you took the time to learn how to, you've got an upper hand. I don't get why people don't like snaking. It's just as much a strategy as using items are.
Items and snaking were/are apart of the game, if you take out snaking, all you have is a game where you have to leave it up to chance of getting good items to win. Where's the skill in that? There is no skill, it just becomes a game not worth playing.
I learned how to snake, just like everyone else did. If there's no learning curve, and advanced techniques to play, then it's not mario kart, and it'll end up in turn becoming repetitive. No snaking means all you're left with are the bikes, karts, and items. I hope they work in a way for you to actually become good at the game, and not just let you be at the mercy of everyone behind you.

As if sliding back and forth isn't repetitive. lulz
No snaking means we are left with the badassery known as the SNES version. I have just as much fun playing Mario Kart when there is no snaking as opposed to when there is. Besides the fact that you state it is such a simple technique then why even bother doing it? No one gets the upper hand when everyone snakes. It's just tedious as fuck. doodthing;

You need to watch some online matches then. Dood shit is crazy. Items like bananas make all the difference. Missing a MT can mean the race, especially if your opponent can PRB.
Look on youtube for anything on TB1, ZGhetto, Fabian DeSilva, and even the early legend Dr. House.
Snaking is what made the game for me.
Guarantee that some techinique will be figure out to make the game faster.

I have seen videos with insane snakers. But again, items come into play as always. A blue shell can cost you the match in a normal game, or even a banana peel at the last second. I just honestly don't see the upperhand you get while racing against other snakers. Sure it makes the game faster but at what cost? Your thumb.

Its addicting. It was like "Dude! I can win every match against kids that suck and have intense races against my friends.
Its always first to fuck up loses.
Don't get me wrong. I used to snake a lot in Mario Kart DS and used to back up how it was put in the game. But after a while you realize how annoying it is.

OR you don't act like a little pussy bitch and play the game. Seriously though, I like snaking, and I'll defend it, but is it really worth a whole thread for "i hate snaking lol" in the first place? I mean, whatev, you don't like snaking, cool. But I personally do. Whenever I play my pals, I'm always a lap ahead of them, and they go "I just hit you with a blue shell wtf" And I go "snaking haha"

I didn't make this thread because I hate snaking. Far from it, I do it myself to keep up with the competition. But I prefer to not have to snake. I made this thread because it was about info in Mario Kart Wii.

So now the Mario Kart series turns away from pure technical skill into a more strategy oriented environment. Can you complete the algorithm to find the optimal item output to track rank ratio with enough time to execute your daring plan in just three laps?? (Variance in lap number does exist.)
What's next, turn-based Mario Kart? baddood;
