Title: the Apple /// was so goofy
Post by: Snorkel on February 03, 2008, 08:23:54 PM
I think it's the only time in Apple history where they actually went backwards in design... they went from the elegant Apple II case (still sexy by my standards), nice and light and plastic, to this beast of a computer:

Sure, it's got a built-in 5.25" floppy drive, but do you know how much just the computer part weighs? A good 30 pounds. I've had to ship a couple of these... THE FRAME IS SOLID METAL. It's ridiculous.

I stay away from them now, unless they're in perfect condition. Seeking a good enough, big enough box and lugging it into FedEx just isn't worth it.

They use the Apple III on Lost for the Swan PC although they only show the monitor.

Pretty hefty machinery.
