I've recently started playing my SNES again, and after beating Earthbound for about the 3rd time, I realized I need some more games.
So, any suggestions? Don't say some bullshit like Chrono Trigger either, that game sucked.
Do you have the Donkey Kong Country Games?
Do you have Alttp?
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY CHORNO TRIGGER HATER
And go for some shmups like Axelay, Gradius III, and Darius Twin. Also, Actraiser 2 is great but it's so hard you'll probably despise it the first week you try to play it.

The original Actraiser was a good game, but hella hard.
I already have Gradius, and love it. I was thinking more along the lines of RPGs similar to EB, though nothing will ever come close to it.
Well Zelda A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, Contra, And yeah I can't think of anymore but I know there are more.

Not much of a fan for either.

Actraiser 2 is harder, but you have WINGS. Also, it's absolutely beautiful.
I hear the Breath of Fire games are supposed to be good, but they're usually too expensive for me to buy. If you want something like a Zelda-y game, Crystalis for the NES is pretty good.

Also, I'll be sure to check out Actraiser II. Children of Mana or w/e was supposedly good, so I'll try it out.
Super Metroid baddood;
STAR FOX
All of the Mario games
Super Metroid, Legends of the Mystical Ninja, Ogre Battle if you're into Final Fantasy Tactics.

CONTRA 3
Let's go for good, obscure games, guys.
Tiny Toons Buster Breaks Loose. Laugh all you want, but this game was awesome, and not many of you have played it, I imagine.

I've played it. It's not that bad of a platformer really, but it's not exactly big on replay value, just like all of those cartoon platformers back then.
I also played Road Runner's Death Valley Rally and some Porky Pig game that had a haunted Christmas theme.

Porky Pig's Nightmare or something rather? Never played that one.
I never played too much SNES games that weren't SMW, so I'm fortunate to have come upon this thread, as I need suggestions as well.

You mean Secret of Mana, well good luck finding it at a decent price, unless you don't mind paying about $25-30 for it.
I'd recommend Illusion of GAIA. It's an awesome real time rpg.

To me, RPGs are games such as Final Fantasy, Zelda, and Dragon Quest.
If you're running around and swinging swords, then I simply consider that an action game or hack-n-slash or whatever you want to call it. If Zelda and Illusion of Gaia are RPGs, then so are Super Metroid and Super Mario Galaxy and Gran Turismo.

RPG isn't that loose of a term anymore. Most people don't consider "playing a role" to be enough to be considered an RPG.
But use the term how you want, I guess. There's no concrete set of guidelines as to what makes an RPG an RPG, to my knowledge.
Also, my point still stands. You don't like most RPGs, so I sort of just tune you out when it comes to that genre.

But I like games that are just action, like most 2D Zelda games.
Illusion of Gaia is like a bland, unentertaining Zelda for the Super Nintendo with twice the reading and none of the gameplay.

just change the sprites, add new power ups, and you have a whole new game

what's more fun:
flying through space at thousands of miles per hour with lasers and missles and giant robots and aliens trying to kill you or tiptoeing through a dungeon followed by another dungeon and another and another and another and killing things like little blobs of goop and reading dozens of hours of text

then you'd love utterly boring games like illusion of gaia
Early Zelda games focus mostly on action, which is good, but Illusion of Gaia is just slowly wandering around in bland environments and fighting the most generic enemies possible and occasionally temporarily powering up to some dark lord and slowly stomping through a dungeon.
If I somehow made that out to sound awesome, it's not. The Oracles games and Link to the Past are much better.
Christ, you people are so picky. I enjoy shmups. I enjoy what some may call "boring" RPGs. I enjoy Star Fox 64 (the first one is admittedly kind of shitty). I enjoy Zelda (for the most part). I enjoy all the kinds of games that you assholes keep picking apart.

i would rather have zelda over gaia. i would rather have gaia than a generic space shooter

Disagree. And just because its an action RPG, why do you have to call it a Zelda rip off. The stories are no way similar. And yes it has more reading, that helps build a strong storyline, you know something that is key to RPG's.
I'm with kaz, when it comes to RPG's you shouldn't have a voice.

Yeah, but I'm not talking about now. I'm talking about all those stupid fights you've gotten into with Spartan and other people who argue with you about games.
It's not a bad thing to have an opinion at all. I'd just like it if you'd flaunt it a little less, you know? Let others have their own tastes.
