Title: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Post by: me003 on December 18, 2007, 09:12:23 PM
So if I download a torrent for Leopard, will it work?
Do you know if it works?
And where can I find a bittorrent program for OS Panther. Azureus doesn't work.

Um, it might work. Read the comments (which it will have if it's a popular torrent) to see if it works or not. If you're installing on a Mac, it should pretty much be hit or miss.

And why the hell would you want Panther?

I don't want panther, it's what I have. And I can't find a torrent program thatworks for it.
Which is why I'm trying to upgrade.

Easily. It's not worth it though, not in the slightest. I'm using an illegal 1,000 dollar industrial copy my brother let me borrow and It's not authorized for use anymore. I accidentally registered it the first time I installed, and after updating the OS it rendered all bundled applications useless-including System Preferences smithicide;

Buy it, there's no point in being stuck on a .0 release forever. Why the hell can't you dish out 129 dollars anyways? I can't think how anyone could possibly be that desperate.

I can understand not wanting to pay that much or more for a word processor, but a major OS update?

Would leopard even run properly on a PowerPC.
I'm not going to dish out money for a new OS, if I can't even utilize it to it's fullest. I wouldn't be able to run Windows, and time machine is the only other thing that interest me. That and being able to run other freeware programs.

Yes. psyduck;

Then don't get Leopard. Also, if you're not using Safari and Xcode and Terminal and AU Lab and SpinControl and whatever else why use a Mac?

why

If you think you can truly just flip back to any date and anything you've ever done with Time Machine, you're wrong. It takes snapshots of your harddrive and exports them to an external HD so you can pull back whatever you backed up on the date of that snapshot.

wat

How about getting Tiger and getting rid of Firefox before moving up to Leopard.

Exactly. I'm not planning on getting Leopard. I just wanted to know if those torrents work, and how effectively. I still need a torrent program for other torrents though.

If I did upgrade, then I would probably switch from firefox.

And I also use a mac for other programs, not just internet browsers, or special movie players.
Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack, Reason, Logic, all the macromedia products,  adobe products,  and because they have a low risk of getting viruses.
Why the fuck do you think people are getting macs now? So they can use Safari?

You should upgrade to Tiger at the very least. Odds are if your Mac is running Panther it's going to have issues running Leopard... I personally thought it was worth the money for the multitude of small visual and preference tweaks, as well as Quick Look and Spaces and working Safari 3 and making everything faster.

tell me how often you attempt to build your own apps because xcode has some great tools
QuoteExactly. I'm not planning on getting Leopard.

I tried that program, I don't think it worked. But I'll try again.
I've never used X-code, because I'm not into that. I'm into movies and music making.

It would have to be a G4 or slower, right? Most likely with 512mb of RAM...if it's still running panther.

that's really just barely cutting the minimum requirements if your processor is even fast enough. Feel free to upgrade to Tiger, though.

If it's running Panther, it's probably just got 256 megs unless he upgraded it.
