To be fair Greece is also sucking. They actually played with a bit of passion after going down to 10, maybe they needed a kick in the ass
Clearly they did, they played so much better in the second... Kind of surprised Poland didn't lose with their lackluster defense and lackadaisical offensive pushes.
I can only see the first half of the Germany game before work tomorrow but it will surely be more pretty than this cry;
Yeah, it's unfortunate that he missed the penalty. It's good that the linesmen actually did their job, though. befuddlement goowan

srsly. At least they didn't keep describing things as 'the moment of truth' like the person commentating on the US match yesterday.
I wonder how afraid Poortugal is about facing the Danes again. sillydood;
Germany lineup: Neuer - Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm - Khedira, Schweinsteiger - Müller, -zil, Podolski - Gómez
Portugal lineup: Patricio - Pereira, Alves, Pepe, Coentrão - Meireles, Veloso, Moutinho - Nani, Postiga, Ronaldo
I'm not surprised about Kroos and Mertesacker being put on the bench. I wish Gómez a good game.

I'm really glad Löw stood by Gómez as CF for as long as he did, hopefully it gives him a big confidence boost so he knows that he can, in fact, perform at tournaments too.
The last few minutes were disgustingly sloppy from the Germans though, it reminded me of how Bayern decided to sit back and protect Müller's goal in the Champions League final. I guess that's not surprising since eight of the players used during the match are also currently Bayern players, but still. And pointless yellows for Badstuber and Boateng. akudood;

That's Kasey Keller. He was a pretty solid goalkeeper for USA and Spurs but holy fuck what makes him think he's qualified to be a commentator lol
And yeah, Löw really made the right decision by keeping Gomez in, you could tell everyone was thinking that Klose could have converted some of those headers Gomez missed out on. This way he walks off the hero with dat confidence (especially after the CL Final omg) and still gives Klose a bit of playing time, smart move.
Also what the fuck was Meireles doing, with that hit followed by the laugh, and then the over-the-top-sincere apology? What was I watching?

the seemingly easiest team germany could get from group a [excluding a miracle from the greeks] would be czechia, should it win group b. also another thing to note: the germans [glow=black,2,300]haven't[/glow] won the second game of a group phase in a very long time. however that could be due to the fact that they've pretty much regularly blown their opening opponents out of the water if the first match and is just lingering overconfidence.

Qualification would have been secured if Portugal didn't win.
A win or draw with Denmark secures top place finish as the maximum points Portugal can finish on is six. A 1:0 or 2:1 loss for Germany and any Portugal win means Portugal/Denmark and Denmark/Portugal go through respectively. If you want it explained in even more exhaustive detail, here you go:

Yeah, I mean for as long as the game was level I guess I really never felt that the Danes could pip the Germans by getting a second goal. Badstuber completely let Bendtner all over him for their goal though. All in all, it was a similar not-great-but-not-terrible performance like the Portugal game.
Hopefully the Germans show a lot more desire to just rip the Greeks apart at the beginning, they've started out pretty poorly in every match and grown into it so far. But I'm not really sure how many of the players are ruthless like that on this German team, Reus or circa 2010 Müller is all I can think of? befuddlement

I would honestly say a 4:2 is a rather disappointing result for how much Germany dominated possession. I hope the press doesn't gloss over the fact that Germany nearly let them back into the match because of the poor finishing from the first half from Löw's changes.
And Neuer, the hobbit went to the same side he did against Poland when the Greeks won a penalty and it was saved... awdood;
Yes, very disappointing. Especially early on the game should've been at about 3:0 15 minutes in.

I'm really confused. Löw thinks Kroos is a logical filler for Schweinsteiger [going by his comments after he broke his collar bone in November], so if that's the case, why include both? If he wanted a person with more control of the ball that can pass, why not Götze? he can play on the right. confuseddood; confuseddood;
I mean, I'm trying to remember how Kroos played against Mönchengladbach out 'wide' on the left when Ribéry was suspended for Bayern, and I really don't remember him popping up all that often on the wing. befuddlement

Yeah, like I said, I hate playing Italy. It's like a land war in Russia. Inadvisable.
Also Podolski holy fuck you suck
Bild:
Saturday: "Germany in love with Jogi's boys. Löw adored by entire nation. It's never been so easy to love a German team."
Tuesday: "Only Buffon separates us from final."
Thursday: "Today -zil blows Italy away."
Friday: "Losers. Too soft for the title. Failed miserably. Löw failed again, is he to blame?"
So fickle indeed.
So Torres will win the golden boot by virtue of having played fewer minutes than Gómez. That's an even shittier tie breaker than using assists.
