i bought a rubix cube cuz i was like this will be a fun thing to waste time on while im trapped inside and
NO
this shit is hard
i keep feeling like i'm understanding the ways of the cube but then she fools me again
help
Kevin Hayes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Hays_(speedcuber)) was on my swim team in HS and i used to play smash bros with him. Really strong swimmer too and has the world record for most 3x3s (i think) solved while holding his breath amongst other cubing records
i don't know how to cube but at least i can flex my connects
i've always thought it would be a fun thing to get into though
I learned a slow method back in the day that wasn't too bad. Never really learned any ADVANCED STRATS tho
i used to be super good in high school i could occasionally solve one in under 30 seconds lol. only ever did the 3x3 tho and haven't really touched it in years. for a while i would pick it up and do a few solves just to prove i still could but i'm afraid i've forgotten too much at this point
welp i got curious and scrambled up mah cube for the first time in a few years and... solved in under a minute easily hocuspocus;
damn wtf i still havent solved mine ONCE >_<'

damn that's badass
seems like it'd be a fun hobby
big d
lots of t
and more bc than anyone on boyah. travis
it's basically all pattern recognition and memory, both muscle memory and remembering algorithms. once u get that first solve ur gonna be like whoa dood. if ur trying to do the beginner's method maybe try learning the fridrich method, it's completely intuitive and requires no memorization at all until u get to the last layer

louder for the people in the back
I think back in high school I thought it would be a fun thing to try, I was not very good at it and remain not very good
I can usually get like two sides solved easily but after that I'm stuck
My mother in law sent me and my wife every Rubin cube type ever but I can't get into it, wtf I thought I would care
update i solved one layer
ALERT I HAVE SOLVED THE CUBE
AND THEN I SOLVED IT AGAIN
I AM LEARNING ITS SECRETS

now do it naked
I'm workin on it I can do two layers and the final step from memory now lol
UPDATE
did my first solve with only my mind, no algorithm checks or anything
I AM ONE WITH THE CUBE
next up I solve it with my ass cheeks
Not even fingers?
no, asscheeks ONLY
lol now im shopping for a new cube cuz i have the shitty hasbro one that gets stuck all the fucking time im never gonna beat max park with this SHIT
nice

shit's addicting aint it

yeah I'm doing like 20-30 solves a day now it feels like lmao
i used to be into cubing a little bit, after a while it just becomes muscle memory/autopilot.
but the last post here was over a month ago so i'm guessing you dropped it now lol
i don't do it as much but i have the one method down to muscle memory at this point. i have my speedcube chillin on my desk and ill pick it up and do a solve whenever i feel fidgety lol. haven't done a real time in a while but i can do it under 2 minutes for sure.
probably should srsly pick it up again and learn some faster strats but ive been playin video games maaaaan
i tried to learn fridrich once but gave up because there was too much to memorize in PLL and OLL. i think my fastest time was like 35 or something with the beginner method. i don't think there is any need to learn it unless you want to get like sub 20 seconds eventually but then you also have to learn like the optimal ways to hold the cube and all that hardcore stuff. i never really gave it any dedicated practice TBH, would just do repeated solves during long calls with my friends.

there's a 2 step method for oll/pll that cuts down the algos you need to remember by a ton, it's actually what i use
i tried doing a solve just now after years of not really touching it and got a minute flat. the beginner method i use has like 4 steps for last layer lol, i'll probably look into the 2 step one if i ever get back into cubing again. did you ever learn to solve color neutral? i can only start on green or my brain stops working. i should have picked white tbh cuz i always mess up yellow and white.
nope, i can only solve starting with the white cross
