Idk I've still never played it so I'll probably get it and never finish it
i hope it is the same game with updated gfx. maybe tighten up wander's controls a tad, THATS IT. i'd rather not have the hd port team fucking with shit. not only that but the game is 70% wandering around a vast empty boring wasteland and 30% fighting colossi, and adding new ones won't change that balance so i'd rather not see a gopher/dolphin/flying squirrel colossi in this shit
I said already that I hope some stuff DOES get added.

DO NOT DO THIS
they've already said though there will be an optional """"improved""" control scheme so as long as the original is the same with less bugs (like wander clipping when gripping certain areas) then I'll be good
also I'm with John on this one for once, I WANT more Colossi because otherwise there's no reason for me to get this game. http://teamico.wikia.com/wiki/Unused_Colossi There were originally like 48 colossi planned, which was eventually cut down to 24. There are 8 that are shown in concept art and even have models and shit in the game's data, as well as areas that were made from them. Most of those were only cut due to time restraints or bugs, things that can easily be fixed now. Even if they kept the original 16 for the story and like 4 of those 8 were added to a separate "expanded" mode I would love that.
i meant fix the bugginess dawg i dont mean rework the controls lol they are just straight buggy especially in the last remaster

well a lot of people consider the controls broken because of things like wander floppin around and losing his footing on colossi, tripping over rocks, etc, but those are things I enjoy and are part of the game imo
or shit like "why is triangle jump it should be x!"
(i wouldnt mind if the game included customizable controls, but idrgaf i'd play with the default either way lol)

I was pretty sure the ps3 version let you change the jump button to x...
Maybe not

customizable and "improved" arent necessarily the same thing nor mutually exclusive i don't know what you're trying to get at lol

i have several bones to pick with this opinion akudood;
shadow of the colossus isn't zelda
really, the only things i'd change (aside from grfx/performance enhancements and a few quality-of-life adjustments/ui fixes) would be to add
more colossi, and perhaps more land area to accommodate them
Some story additions or expansions would be welcome for me

and yet i would
not want the minimalistic plot to be modified or expanded at all lol
i'd rather that be saved for a proper sequel, if at all
Oh....
:(
on one hand i approve
but on the other i just feel like the ps2 version was the peak of this game and it makes me sad that the flop guardian exists

:(
i mean, you don't have to agree with me lol
i can see why you'd want a more elaborate plot
to an extent, i want one too
but 1. i'd rather have significant new information saved for the sequel i so desperately want, and 2. i like sotc's minimalism

the last guardian was at its best as gorgeous vaporware that we all could have imagined would have been perfect if only it would ever launch
...but then it came out and it was much less than perfect and lol :'(
I want a shadow 2 where you play as Mono to make Wander not horny child.

yeah? is this a counter-point, because it kind of seems like it's in agreement with my point; otherwise i don't know what you're getting at and you'll have to elaborate more. it
isn't zelda and that's exactly why i think making the game larger only opens your eyes to the fact that you aren't doing anything. you literally 1) wander for
the majority of the time and 2) fight colossi with the other portion. that's it. like take botw for example, the main complaint that's spawned from that is the world is too big and there's nothing to do, which is fair, but there's objectively more to dick around with and do in that game than there ever will be in sotc. i think SotC is paced perfectly the way it is now because there's practically no room left in the world without making it bigger to add new colossi, which means you are adding more and more of just wandering around a desolate wasteland, occasionally looking at trees, crumpled pillars, and tiny lizards. there's not really a great sense of exploration or wonder to excite you; the only thing that sparks that is the colossi.

you would have to because the map is practically entirely used
(http://faqsmedia.ign.com/faqs/image/shadow_of_the_colossus_map.jpg)
I on the other hand loved just wandering around the majority of the time, and did get a great sense of exploration, moreso than any other game I've played. It's because the landscape is beautiful and memorable, and there are plenty of things to see that offer no gameplay element but add to the sense of a desolate, long forgotten land.

oh, aside from a new control option
http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2017/11/03/shadow-of-the-colossus-ps4-controls-detailed-by-sony/
That's kinda the gist I got from it.
It's like the Crash N Sane trilogy, but for Shadow
the new medievil game will be the same
sony, please just make a new game that doesn't look like this:

lol
well with the huge success of horizon and god of war, i can't imagine sony is going to turn away from games that look like this any time soon
i mean they're not BAD games but when sony lets their more experimental projects fall under the radar and fail due to bad marketing (gravity rush 2) i get a little sick of them awdood;
remember when sony used to make games like parappa the rapper and locoroco? now they just remaster them ad infinitum
while i do lament the gradual extinction of smaller experimental first-parties from sony, and while their treatment of that poor loser kat has been abhorrent, i can't say i'm all that bothered by it tbh
it's not like they've killed off any particularly popular or beloved franchises in favor of the last of us clone #735, and like you said, their cinematic games actually do tend to be p. great anyway
plus there are plenty of other studios who make quirky experimental games, like nintendo, various third-parties also available on playstation, and to a lesser extent, indie pc trash, so i don't think there's any real shortage of the type of game you're looking for lol
Poor Kat :(
So has anybody actually played this? befuddlement
i want but i also want to know if it's worth lol
yeah i played and beat it when it came. its SotC. it's pretty. but it's still SotC lol did you have any specific questions
playing this after the last gaurdian made me realize how much annoying BS this game has in it unfortunately with colossi not responding very well to triggers needed to continue the fight
yeah it's just a prettier sotc. the soundtrack is "redone" as well but sounds almost exactly the same, most of the time you can barely tell they added anything.
all the same jankiness and glitching is still there. i was actually surprised that they didn't bother trying to fix some of the more egregious ones, like colossus #14's tendency to just de-aggro until you backtrack to the previous platform and restart his cycle
but since it's still sotc obviously it's still a phenomenal game
Quote from: Samus Aran on August 07, 2018, 06:54:19 PMall the same jankiness and glitching is still there. i was actually surprised that they didn't bother trying to fix some of the more egregious ones, like colossus #14's tendency to just de-aggro until you backtrack to the previous platform and restart his cycle
lol this is the main offender as mentioned in my post jesus i almost threw my controller out the window during that fight
it's especially frustrating during hard time trials
oh btw tec that's another thing - most of the time trials are easier in this version. the colossi are the same, it's just the time limits are a bit more forgiving
three other minor differences:
the game is easier to platinum than the ps3 version, because there aren't trophies for finding literally every lizard and every fruit. just maxing stamina/health, which only requires a handful of lizards and fruit per playthrough
they added these lame coin collectibles that are only for the most masochistic of collectible hunters because they're all extremely difficult to find and the reward you get (some sword) isn't even as good as the queen's sword you get from hard time trials
they added a lame lil secret room in the forest to the northeast of the shrine of worship (the one you go through to reach colossus #13 most directly) that's got a little reference to the last guardian in it
