Yup, I went to see one last year and it was pretty awesome. They held one of my favorite songs until last. I kinda felt bad because there were normal people sitting next to me and I was jumping up and down like a maniac.
Also, my first concert. keke;

I always have In the Aeroplane Over the Sea as my default favorite album (as Neutral Milk Hotel is always my favorite band) BUT I just figured out why again. Oh my gosh.

Why? Because it is practically the most beautiful thing in existence?

Even more so than the aurora borealis?
it is beautiful and it really I don't know. It's just an incredible album (so is On Avery Island, but not even on the same level)
Maybe it's time for me to finally give Aeroplane a listen.
You should ^_^
and then tell me how you feel about it.
I listened to the first track of that album, plus another song I think.
The first track was great... until the accordion was added. Then they added more stuff, and it killed the song.
To each his own. but Neutral Milk Hotel (ItAOtS especially) is amazing.
hmmm....
Cowboys from hell - Pantera
New Found Power - Damageplan
Reise,Reise - Rammstein
Herzleid - Rammstein
Deadwing - porcupine Tree
Fear of a blank planet -Porcupine Tree
Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel
The war within - ShadowsFall
American gothic EP - The Smashing pumpkins
Hate Crew Deathroll - Children of Bodom
After giving it one listen through, I can definitely say it's beautiful. I got some pretty heavy dream-like vibes, plus a sort of WWII-era feel. I think I'm starting to understand why so many people love this album.

I'm glad you like it.
Especially after only 1 listen.
I also thought it was beautiful on the first listen, but then the 3rd or 4th listen-through for me was when it truly broke out, and it transcended beauty. It was unbelievable.

toke up- then listen to it.
I don't think being high and listening to Neutral Milk Hotel would really change anything that you get out of it. I'm glad that you like it. If you continue to listen to it I promise it will only get better. And it's just funny to me sometimes to be laying in my bed at night and listening it and you begin to focus on different things in the music. I don't know.
I've never had an album make me feel as much as that one does.

Think again. Anything you listen to while high is a completely different experience.
I can understand that but I still don't think it would effect how you perceive the album or what you get out of it. I've probably listened to the album high and I can't remember it being special.

Also, Andrew, your list is missing Surfer Rosa.
Excuse my extremely generic opinion, but why the hell is Nebraska, but not Born to Run on there?

Because Nebraska is so much more raw and powerful than Born to Run. It feels like a more personal album and Atlantic City is easily Springsteen's best song. I'm still pissed he didn't fucking play it my town. >.<
