mine is pretty nice, but only p. dec for me, 6gb ram is no longer nearly enough (collecting tabs addict :'(). I also want one dem x79 boards + socket 2011 CPUs as soon as they're out even though this is completely unnecessary n_n
Nice in that it's a year & a half old and it was the nicest netbook I could find at the time.
I also just recently got a 1TB external hard drive which helps a lot, and I have it connected to an external monitor. It usually works pretty well for me, unless I have a ton of things running (100+ tabs open, chat, notes, music, word, along with f.lux always running) so sometimes it can get pretty fucking awful. It never crashes, although chrome will crash from time to time. I can run the original Portal on it, but at a poor frame rate and anything above that won't happen. The Google+ hangouts we do are incredibly laggy, but livestream usually works alright (as long as I'm not the one streaming dear god)
I just recently upgraded to Win7 Home Premium from Starter Edition, so that's pretty cool.
It has a 1.7ghz amd athlon II neo processor, 2gb ram, and some kind of ati netbook graphics.
I obviously want something better (which would be easy nowadays, I almost forgot how nice computers can get now) but this works fine for the most part.
comparison to show how ridiculous safari's window caching is
chrome - 26 tabs, 180mb ram
safari - 97 tabs, 1.5gb ram
the first time I type something in the google search bar in the morning usually freezes safari for 5-10 minutes. doodhuh; RAM MOAR
awful awful awful. I'm using a borrowed laptop right now. Mine has a dual core processor and 3 gbs of ram.
The video card is a Nvidia 7900 or something and is ok for some computer games. Considering i got it when dual cores first came out I guess it's had a good life.
Still have the flashing screen problem. cry;
I just built it myself earlier this year, but it's just decent: Athlon II X2, Radeon 4200 (integrated), 8GB RAM, and a lot of accessories unrelated to power. I built it with price as the main priority, using less than $300 total, but it can handle all non-gaming tasks I've attempted with it perfectly. Games aren't a big problem, either, but it's not like I can play with high settings.
Before I built this, the best I could use was a computer that couldn't handle the most basic things goowan
My desktop is an eMachines T5020 with 4gb ram which is alright but a little dated now and has XP on it. And my laptop is an HP G71-340US with 4gb ram and it's pretty good and it has Windows 7.
mine is pretty fucking good. not ridiculously good, but far and away the best computer I've ever had and better than I need.
i7 2600k, with a corsair h-80 liquid cooler, overclocked to 4.6ghz
8gb 1600mhz ddr3 ram
nvidia 550ti, with a slight factory overclock
500gb 7200rpm sataii OS drive
250gb 7200rpm sataii data drive
2tb 5900rpm sataii data drive
plus other things of course that don't have much of an effect on daily performance
the integrated graphics card is shit but the rest is p. nice
6 GB of RAM, 582 GB HDD, AMD Phenom 8450 Triple Core Processor
bought it two years ago
mediocer i want new pc soon
Yeah I just built mine in April, so I would say it's alright, nothing incredible but suits my needs.
AMD Phenom II
8GBs RAM
4TB of harddrive
Onboard graphics. >_<' I know, I know.
PC: Don't know the password so it is Worthless.
Mac: does what I need, but if it doesn't Run Video games well
My only computer right now is my 2008 Macbook Pro
But I did just purchase a few parts to throw together a simple HTPC
I got a cheap 1156 board, found and i3 for cheap on another forum I go to, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM with pretty decent latency, and a nice, reliable 500 Watt Apevia power supply. The rest I already have.
Although I might buy a nifty little HTPC case. I would love to build my own case but I simply don't have the time or resources while living here.

Mine's pretty decent, Core i5 2500k OC'd to 4 GHz and 8 gigs of ram
It's decent for a laptop. Graphics card kind of sucks (GeForce GT 230M) and my processor is slow (2.27Ghz, Intel i5 Core) but I don't have many problems with it.
I just picked up a nice antique iMac (Bondi Blue RevB, which means souped up video processing for that era) for a nice price and I'm finding that it also parts out nicely too. Gonna replace the memory battery in it and do a local network with my antique Win 98 machines just to check out that famous iMac cross-platform capability.

Do those still use AppleTalk, or is that a relic of OS 9 and earlier? girl;
I don't really know how nice my computer is but I think it's like a year and a half old and it's an i-mac (the smallest screen you can get) so i think it's pretty chillchilller for whatever i am using a conputer that is mybrothers now anyways. but next semseter i think i get macbook pro so maybe we will see what i am doing.... I'm not sure, actually. This is the first iMac I've ever had--my first Apple was a II. I'm still trying to start with a clean drive on Bondi. Just discovered that the OS didn't like the drive partitioned and I'm gonna have to start reinstallment all over again. :(

use OS 9, it will be more fun and nostalgic than early OS X and possibly faster, definitely faster if you're trying to install recent OS X
Ya, that's what I was told by its previous owner. It came with OS 8 but I got both OS 9 and OS10 disks...and so OS 9 it will be. As soon as I remove the partition I made.
I forget what parts I put in my rig D:

Yeah.
Sometimes I forget the model number of my motherboard. But things like CPU model number, motherboard manufacturer + chipset, gpu # + PCB manufacturer, HDD capacities, rpm, and manufacturer, and ram capacities and speed should not be forgotten.

I have an E8400 @3GHz (p sure it's underclocked to 3) with a gygabyte mobo, gtx9800+, 640GB @ 7200 RPM WD, and 4GB RAM
I don't anything more specific. idk why I assumed that's what you guys mean. I'm sodum
Everything is stock. Err, actually I think I underclocked.
my laptop is pretty nice. i answered nicer than needed but it probably falls under the p. decent category after reading more posts
Computer

I've been using mint as my main OS but I still have win7 for gaming and stuff
idk for a laptop it's pretty kickass, but it's so large and impractical. i've been flirting with the idea of selling it and getting a netbook and a desktop instead
That sounds pretty good except for the RAM. I used to have a 17.2" ASUS g73 that had that same processor, but with 8gb of memory and a 5870m. It was great, except for the size and the relatively low clock on the memory. I sold it to help build my current desktop. I had initially planned on buying a netbook once I had the money, but I've honestly very rarely felt the need for one, so I haven't yet. I do occasionally borrow one from my roommate, but less than once a month.

It's probably just copy+pasted from some system details application

Though I know model names, I don't memorize model numbers of my motherboard, CPU, or anything else really. I don't at all know my motherboard's chipset number and I don't even know how that matters, though I do definitely know its CPU socket type and the details of all other ports/sockets. I don't have my RAM's speed memorized either.
But checking all these details while making this post anyways:
ASUS M4A785TD-M board
AMD 785G North Bridge, AMD SB710 South Bridge
1333 MT/s (9-9-9 timings)
Regor 250 (Athlon II X2 3.0GHz)
Then again, I don't have too much reason to care so much about my hardware; I don't think I ever even reach the limits of my computer's processing power (or RAM capacity, etc.). The only ways I've really ever felt limited by my specs are in disk capacity (which is nearly full and with no backup at a time when buying more drives is way too expensive) and in allotting video memory for virtual machines (my pathetic 128MB may be plenty for most other tasks I do, but it's not enough to split between two OSes at once)
The most computationally demanding thing I do on my desktop at least once a month is playing HD video. But the computer I used before building this one couldn't even handle that.
Chipset determines basically everything-- when you're building your computer around a motherboard, you're really building it around a chipset first and foremost. That's why people refer to chipsets as "platforms" ie, x79 platform, x58 platform, z68, h67, p67, ect. Your chipset determines all sorts of things, such as:
--Number, revision, and distribution of available PCI and PCI-e lanes
--CPUs supported, and whether certain features of said CPUs are available (unlocked multipliers, integrated graphics and EPUs, ect)
--Number of DIMMs, as well as supported speeds and capacities
--I/O support, such as USB3, esata, thunderbolt, ect
--SATA controllers-- number and speed of ports, as well as integrated RAID and SSD cacheing options.
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of right now.

Eh, it's usually pretty okay, but sometimes it's cranky and gets really bossy. Not the nicest computer I've ever had, but I've seen worse
