i think i might be 2stupid4chopsticks

i've tried before but could never get the hang of it :'(

eating rice is such a chore with them tbfh

i can eat rice with a stickier consistency fine, but that single grains fallin' everywhere shit is impossible lol

i mean, yeah, but i'm still bound to be clumsy with them, and like others in this thread i don't really use them "properly"

I can even eat fried rice with them


I only struggle with noodles

yeah I can competently eat pretty much any kind of Japanese/Chinese/Korean dish with chopsticks. I don't doubt the way I hold them doesn't match the way natives do, but it works for me.

I can't even use pens the "normal" way either; I blame my lefthandedness for both. When I try using my right hand for pens or chopsticks I actually gravitate toward more-or-less the normal way to hold them but then I'm absolutely terrible at it and can't write legibly or keep a hold of my noodles. I feel like I probably could be ambidextrous if I tried but I'm just not used to using my right hand for precision tasks so I suck at it.

update: i have since learned how to use chopsticks nyandood;

the average four year old in china is probably still far more adept than i am but i'm proud to now report that i can, with some patience and deliberation, eat an entire meal with chopsticks :3

what made this so hard for me was the fact that almost every chopstick tutorial says 'hold it like a pencil', which is exactly what i would do, and it simply wouldn't work

i just recently learned that i had been writing the letter 's' incorrectly for a long time too, who knew you were supposed to be starting from the top

Oh yeah I always start from the bottom too. I was absent a couple days we learned to write the letters lol

writing the s from the bottom is so weird but also clearly more efficient now that i think about it

one time my algebra teacher in middle school made fun of me for writing my "9"s starting from the bottom by writing a bunch of correct "9"s all over the top of a worksheet i turned in

that seems like bullying
