kind of want to buy a novation nova 2. can get the rack version for ~800 but the real deal looks like it would be so much fun to play with
maybe worth settling for an ultranova and then upgrading some day if i am really loving it

Man, things have come a long way since 2000, especially for a VA. For eight hundred dollary-doos, you can get a full analog deepmind 12, or can get a waldorf blofeld if you're into the FM side of things.
I don't think the Nova 2 has aged particularily well, especially looking at options nowadays. If you're into hardware stuff, this is pretty much a golden era for cool sounding, innovative tech at lower price points.
Been pretty interested in the Hydrasynth lately, though.
