Officially they all border each other
i think only utah borders colorado
what i wanna know is where does colorado get off not having a funky shape like its buddies

According to whom? befuddlement
How could that even be geometrically possible? akudood;
In terms of geography, yes. As defined by the states involved and the federal government, yes.
Mathematically, no.

Colorado is for squares, that's why

The concept isn't even exclusive to the US:

There is, as you may know, also a monument to America's Four Corners. It's apparently extremely boring and not worth visiting since it is in the middle of goddamn nowhere.

Triple post!

They meet at a single geometric point. A point has no length or area. It occupies no space in any dimension.
Quote from: YPrrrr on July 29, 2020, 12:23:34 PMMathematically, no.
Am I wrong? It's been a while since I've studied smart stuff

lieve mathematically they have to share a length rather than a point in common
But no you're not wrong because in geography that's considered a border. And like both of us said, officially the state governments and federal government recognize them as bordering states

I mean it's not far from Monument Valley and Petrified Forest
But, a lot of the Southwest is the middle of nowhere tbh

having read this article, i think i've absorbed the same information that would probably be found at the monument's visitor's center and plaques, signs, etc. therefore, i can now avoid ever going there in person.

This is how I felt about the Barringer Crater
i mean a huge impact crater is way cooler than an imaginary spot where four imaginary borders meet
That's how they getcha. $20 to see the hole please
Utah borders deeze nuts

yeah I went there once as a kid, standing on the point is amusing for a minute but after that the place is dull as shit lol
okay but like
If Utah borders New Mexico, then it's literally impossible for Arizona to border Colorado. akudood;
Quote from: YPrrrr on July 29, 2020, 07:01:28 PMofficially the state governments and federal government recognize them as bordering states
Officially the North Korean government recognizes itself as a democratic republic. cnotedood;
theoretically you could draw a line that goes from utah into new mexico without entering arizona or colorado if the line had no width and same with arizona and colorado, but obviously you couldn't draw both lines at once without intersecting on the infinitesimal point that all 4 states have in common. either way, i feel like the borders weren't made with geometry in mind and you're thinking too logically about this lol
TEC how do you feel about france's land border with the netherlands? or spain's land border with morocco? Or Liechtenstein's entire system of municipal boundaries?

love it, extremely satisfying

deliciously ironic lol

asmr in a bad way, a bit like nails on a chalkboard
